Very nice, Kristie. Question, how does the Albion Sovereign handle? (I'm after its more inexpensive brother, the Yeoman.)

You sure are 'after' a lot of swords, including some high dollar ones. Didn't you recently say you don't have a sword you can even cut with right now? Start small my friend. Kristie: Awesome collection indeed. +1 For sharing! You know your Albion Sovereign and Reeve and AT1509 can always come home to me if they need to.

Sean, I am! I have around 20+ swords on my list that are over 300$, six of which are Albions and three of which are Valiant Armoury Signatures, but it's mainly so numerous because of the customs I want from Brenno. There's 35 swords on my sub-300$ list, seven of which are sub-100$, thirteen of which are sub-200$, and the rest are between 2-300$. I'm starting on the sub-100$s and working my way up, though, I will be commissioning a custom sword from Brenno, as well as one for customization from Brotherbanzai, as soon as I can afford them because they are my pet projects and have a great deal to do with the books I'm writing! So, I am starting small. I wouldn't want to run out and buy myself an Albion and ruin myself for anything else.

I wouldn't say an Albion would 'ruin' you to anything else. I've owned an Albion and honestly prefer the VA Crusader and the H/T Fullered Bastard over it (a Knight). They've got wonderful fit and finish and some blade/hilt types that you wont really find without getting a custom, but they are certainly not the end-all-be-all. Kristie, you have an awesome collection (I feel like I've told you this before? ).

I was joking; if anything, it would ruin my bank account. I'm after their Allectus, Auxilia, Decurio, Knecht, Soldat, and, as I said, Yeoman. Other than the Yeoman and Knecht, those could change, though I do like the spathae (Auxilia and Decurio) quite a bit. I have several swords on the list from Dynasty Forge, Valiant Armoury, Windlass (may not be the best, but they're inexpensive and I like the way they look and the ones I want I've heard good things about), some Hanweis, and a few Munetoshis. I also have around a half dozen swords to commission from Brenno (excluding the one I alluded to above).

It handles very well, for the amount of mass involved. I mean, that blade is wide. But it feels very maneuverable to me. It's one of those you want to swing around just picking it up. I mean, I know that's the inclination anyway, but somehow moreso with this one. And the grip is very grippy because of the nice risers. I can't remember if the Yeoman has that; maybe not. But I bet it'd be similar in shape, too, so maybe kinda the same feel in hand. Definitely go for it! Shadowsong, yes, I always keep the zombies in mind. And I think about the people I know who I would have to help arm, and which swords they would be best suited to for defending themselves. Heh heh heh.  Thanks for the compliments, everyone.

The Yeoman does have the risers, they're just not as pronounced as on the Sovereign (and they're practically nonexistent on the Sheriff). The main reason I like the Yeoman is it feels like an everyman's type of sword, as well as hearkening back to the mounted archers who policed king's hunting grounds, as well as occasionally the kingdom. It really reminds me of the Ranger's Apprentice series of books, of which I'm a big fan.

As whitefeathers observed "a little bit of everything." How long did it take to acquire a collection of such breadth?

Ah, since about 2001, I think. So, 9 years. Wow, I didn't realize it had been that long. And thanks, fallschirmjager, for the comliment and the karma.

Wow! Nice collection, Kristie. Mine has been getting a bit smaller of late. Yours on the other hand seems to be thriving and well!

Nice collection indeed! I love the Albion Reeve, it is #1 on my list of needs. What is your impression of the DSA 100 Years War sword?

Ah, yes, the Reeve was the fist Albion I ever wanted. I'm very, very pleased to have it in my collection. The 100 Years War sword is heavy, of course, but it still feels pretty good in hand. It feels very solid, I'd say. The blade is my favorite part (though mine has a slight twist in it since it was a sale blade) and I like the spiral wrapped grip, too. The hilt hardware is awfully chunky, but attractive enough. The pommel is a bit rough to grip and has left a wound on my hand a couple of times but I still haven't managed to file it down and make it smoother quite yet. I have used this sword to cut through 2 inch + cockle burr stems and it just sails right through them. It's very authoritative but not uncontollable, despite the weight. Those are my impressions.

I'm still wondering if albions are worth the price. These days you can get custom swords cheaper, but the biggest thing for me is whether they are worth the shipping charge, cause sometimes the cost to ship is ridiculous and if I buy them in country there is a huge markup sometimes an extra thousand or so on the price of getting it from the states and with the strength of the dollar now it is even sillier. I do love how albions feel but still the price makes me balk and if I want a longer one that is a $250 shipping price.
Sorry for the thread jack

Very pretty sword, but apparently the blade was bent in shipping so I'm not sure what to do with it.
