I like your mock up John, think it'll be great. As another optian you could make a fine Gladius with it. I saw one Jody Samsom made for John Milius for Conan Crown of Iron and it used an Atlantean blade. That was awesome.

Agreed! It's a beauty. Wish i could remember the owners name to credit him here and for using his pic. But if you needed an idea for a tangless Atlantean blade....don't get much better than this.

wouldnt it be heavy as sh1t though? Lol I dont know, with the double hollow ground blade and fuller? Most of the weight in the Atlantean is in the upper part of the blade and bronze.

ehh...the blades are 1/4" thick with no distal taper, even with the hollow grinds and fullers these blanks are still very very heavy

Without the distal taper perhaps but i can assure you owning an Albion if you hold it in the central section where the langets are and ignore the backend weight of the bronze this would be a very nifty mover. This one i posted had the distal taper of an Albion ans was signed to John Milius by Jody on the blade.

It is with regret that I have had to shut down project Conan.
After all this time I really hoped we could get these out the door, but problems arose and after discussions with those with a blade assigned to them I've refunded all deposits and called the end to it.
Those blades are with Wes, and we do hope they will become swords one day! Also John and I will aim to complete our blades in due course too. I'll share some pics if and when we get there.
Thanks all to your support- and to John for his great pieces and the swords that did get completed!

Oh no! That's a real shame Stromlo,a real shame. I have followed this thread with great interest and love and always hope to see all the blades completed and with their owners. Was always my first port of visit. It was a great project and thoise that were completed were were the time. Thanks to you and John for the ride.
For those that were waiting i may put my Destroyer up for sale if they are interested.
Would love to see yours and John's if they get finished.

There were some problems with the blades that i discovered Upon receiving them and carefully inspecting them, unfortunately, the issues that arose raised the cost to complete the swords very very much.

What's wrong with the blades? How did it go so long unnoticed? I'm bummed out.
It's been 6 years and a day - I for one need detais friends.

Albion told Robb they were all heat treated, Nobody checked to be sure, it turns out only robbs blade and the 2 that have been completed were heat treated, the rest are fully annealed and as soft as a stick of warm butter.

so they would have to be ground out, shipped to heat treat, shipped back to me to be finished, then shipped back to greybeard to finish the bronze and back to me for final assembly...and then the risk of failure in heat treat (which wouldn't eliminate the cost to have them ground out and prepped) It was impossible for them to be the same 800$ Swords that they were originally advertised as.
