There is one exception to the rule. Dotanuki blade is through harderning and is extremely thick and heavy.

I rechecked and I realized I mis-remember hardening with lamination. Dotanuki is not laminated. But there is no mention if it is TH or DH. Thank you for the correction.

I'm not sure about this, either, though. I have seen a few Dotanuki blades with shintetsu showing through, so they did have some sort of lamination.
