When visitors come home those are the swords they generally first take interest in Thanks for the comments. Updated, see later for the DSA take on the GSOW custom

Really beatiful collection. Just wondering what your thought on the DSA Great Sword are? Thinking of getting it or get a custom make of the witchking sword with the great sword's blade. How long is the blade and did you sharpen yours?

Hi Viking, The greatsword is a bit special. I designed it to be a big type XIII sword with a wide blade but Eyal tried something else and put a long slim and pointy blade on. The result is a very nimble 50'' sword that can be easily handled in one hand. I wasnt expecting that The blade is 38'' long. I still havent reviewed it because there was some trouble in shipping and i dont feel that the sword i have in hand would be a good representation of this particular model. Although its quite a fun sword to play with Well balanced it feels like you can swing this one forever before getting tired. As for the Witch-king i have handled one of the earlier prototype with a pattern-wielded blade and its seriously an awesome sword. A bit harder to wield, definitely not efficient with one-hand, the best thing is the lenght of the handle which really suits me perfectly. The big blocky guard gets a minus from me. In the end it really depends on what your looking for. As for switching blades i'm sure that Eyal will do it if its possible, but since the guard is cast it may be impossible to fit it correctly with the blade's shoulders. Asking him is still the best thing to do. Personally i would be interested into seeing the WK blade on the Greatsword hilt keeping the lenght of the handle the same as the original Witch-king... Now that i think of it i think i'll PM Eyal Please dont hesitate if you have any other questions !

Hey Enkidu, thats an interesting story about the DSA greatsword...i think i will pass on it as i'm looking for something larger. I really like the look of the witchking sword but i would pefer a full fuller running the length of the blade and maby have the blade around 40"+. I don't mind heavier, larger swords. Maby Eyal could make a custom like that but i'm sure that will rack up the $$$. Do you own any DSA customs now that i know you have even done desings for them? Also have you sharpend any of your DSA swords? Right now i own the 11C. viking, Danish, Anduril and Ranger swords.

Just out of curiosity, was that an ultraviolet sword I saw in one of your pictures. If so, what are your impressions of it. I've thought about picking it up a time or two since that movie is one of my guilty pleasures. Now if only I had access to the flat space technology to store it in.

Viking : Try maybe the Hanwei/Tinker GSOW, its affordable and packs quite a punch while still easily maneuverable. I've tried the Hanwei claymore but too much compromise handling-wise IMO. But dont dismiss the witchking so fast I dont own any customs by DSA, but their price for customs aren't that far from their usual prices, you would be surprised in fact Give a call to Eyal, the number is on the website he's an easy guy to deal with. I've had the pleasure to design two models for DSA, the other one is the danish. Hope i'll get the chance to make some more in the future. Sharpening of a DSA... Ok, thats something Personally ( some would like to have my head for this ) i start with an accusharp-like device then a sharpening stone and finally a leather strap. Get a 600 grit sandpaper for the finish. It could be done with very coarse sandpapers but it takes forever. When you buy one always ask for the sharp option, at least half the job will have been done for you. Unless you are very patient and quite skilled thats my recommendation. The most recent models have a better blade config than their previous ones and are consequently easier to work with. 14th forsaken : lol, yeah it is ! I dont think that any of the following will surprise you Alright... the tempering is crap, the blade WILL chip, not crack but chip. The pommel is VERY light ( might be plastic or wood with no density whatsoever ) so the sword is atrociously balanced. The POB is at 10'' ( on a 30'' blade lol ). Its heavy. The handle wrapping is poorly made and its a cheap mildly elastic synthetic leather. 3 sided blades are indeed cool. Fits on a katana rack for easy storage. It can cut. Feels solid. Scabbard is blocky but nice enough, no rattle at all and fits perfectly. The engravings are very neatly made. With a some work with sandpaper and a good wipe of mother's mag it does make a nice display piece, if you replace the handle wrap it might even look serious In conclusion a must buy since there's more good points than bad ones .

D'oh now I went and ordered one. I have plenty of leather and suede cord lying around so I'll rewrap that puppy as soon as I get it. I still wish Mila came with it..............

Man, I really like your collection. It seems like you have all the main bases covered. (all the bases I like anyway)

Sure, all your base are belong to us.
Thanks Strider, although i still need to make a serious incursion into the one-handed realm and that my wish list is a kilometer long i also think that i covered pretty much everything i like with at least one item by category. Now some choices i've made would now be done differently but i cant say that i regret anything so far... that is except the really bad tempered windlass stiletto ( not pictured ) that i bent trying to pry open a beer can... ( for whatever reason it seems like a genius move at the time, i blame the previous beer cans that didnt need a stiletto to open prior to this one ). On the cool side it now looks like a flamberge stiletto.
What style/type you prefer the most Strider ?

Ego Memor still gives me the tingles. Experiencing the characteristics of the 1326 first hand only makes the effect more pronounced..................
