@ Vincent, you would be surprised - I've probably heard incorrect variations on my name numbering somewhere in the low thousands during my lifetime.

I guess that just goes to show that people are stupid. I wouldn't be surprised if one day they're mispronouncing Roy or Ray or Bill or hell, even something as simple as Sam or Lee.

I'd like to see an option for keeping our old screen names but having our real name underneath, maybe in parenthesis. I like Brendan's notion of real names being more personal, but I already know people by their screen names and I personally use the same screen name on every other site I go to that uses screen names. Basically, if you see a brotherbanzai anywhere in the world, it's probably me.

I hear that, which is another reason I'm changing my name. Plus I'm named after someone I can't stand. ...I have way too many reasons to hate my name, lol. Well, I'm named after two of the 50 United States that is more common as a girl's name than a boy's, so... Do I really need to detail why I hate it? Could be worse, Vincent, Carolina came to mind. ;D Just curious, where does Vincent Dolan come from if I'm not being to personal? I personally use the same screen name on every other site I go to that uses screen names. Basically, if you see a brotherbanzai anywhere in the world, it's probably me. Yeah, me too, BB. If you see a RicWilly, it's me........except for that one site. I've always admired the moniker "Buck". Maybe I'll use that at the new place.

My last name gets mispronounced a lot, and since my father has passed on and he was the only reason to claim that side of the family, I sometimes consider changing my last name to Smith, my mom's side of the family BTW VincentDolan, I think Dakota is cool too, but you are the first guy I know of with that name. I know a man named Nevada who is also a swordsman, but I don't know anyone named Arizona Oh well, I guess at least none of us are named Dweezil, Moon Unit, Blanket, Cigar, Horsey, or Inspector Pilot (Real names!) Some parents should be slapped, both physically AND with a lawsuit

I've had it for almost a decade and it's not changing. Those who need to know who I am already do, and those who want to know need only ask. Oh, and Elle > Dakota. At least in the Fanning sisters. Though a friend of mine has an autographed photo of the elder, from her early years in performing, and really neither are much these days......... *cough* Rose/smell.

Names are a funny thing; if you change your name are you the same person? Not a serious question but that question came up when my wife and I were trying to adopt through the foster care system. We had a couple of kids with names that were more than a mouth full. Swordwife was of the opinion of changing to something we liked but I thought it would not be right because a lot of these kids their name was the only thing they had in life. Not that any of that matters but I learned a long time that if anyone picks or makes fun of you, does it really matter? Words are just a label and if the label doesn't fit - ignore it! If it does, well is there any harm in that? Just my .02 Midori, I'm one of those that went to your reviewer profile! ;D Your ...... er ...... uh ....... sorta secret is safe with me.

Well, since it's you saying it's gray/brown Midori I choose to believe. That and the fact that I have seen the inversion layers that occur often in that part of California. I guess even paradise has its parking lots!

I thought it had a orange-ish tinge to it, but grey/brown is good. Those dang mountains just hold all that yucky stuff there.

I used to live not far from Apple Valley (still don't, but I live farther now than I did) and when you were either going up or coming down the mountain, looking either way, you see this yucky brown layer...and I could always see how far above it I lived (we were at 6,200 feet in town; the mountain peak was closer to 9,000). Now, I live under it. Sometimes being a flatlander sucks, despite its' conveniences.

Chris, Its too complicated to go into, but I am am childless any way, and will remain so for the rest of my not-so-long-life Part of that is because I have chosen not to pass on bad genes , part is for other reasons I have a younger brother who has three children, two are sons who will carry on the family name

Could be worse, Vincent, Carolina came to mind. ;D Just curious, where does Vincent Dolan come from if I'm not being to personal? You know, Ric, that's really not funny because I was born on an Air Force base in North Carolina... As for Vincent Dolan, it's the pseudonym that I'll be writing my books under (before I scrapped the ideas I had for different genres, I also had Lawliet Lane and Valen Schiffer). I did the research on various name meanings and how the overall result sounded to me. I figured, 'if this is going to be the name I'm known by throughout my writing career, I'd better damn well like it.' Anyways, Vincent, while being a rather common name, still has a distinguishing characteristic to it. It comes from the Latin 'vincere', meaning 'to conquer.' In a way, it'd be a way to conquer having my name mocked. Dolan is an Anglicization of Ó Dobhailen, an Irish name meaning 'black defiance, challenge', coming from the route Dubh, meaning dark (an element it shares with the first name, Douglas, which means 'dark river'). The whole name essentially came about because I like how it flows off the tongue, I like what it means, and, believe it or not, I'm actually more comfortable signing it (not on anything legal; just scraps of paper for practice) than I am my real name.
