I will probably be changing my username to my actual name (Aaron), but I will put my current unsername in my signature there as well as use the same avatar, so it should be easy enough to identify me.

Aye, me too. I use me real name on SFI and MyArmoury... and most everyone here knows my real name anyway... no point in the 'handle' anymore really.

I'll probably keep the same tag, but I may do the opposite of above, and put my real name in the signature. Then I'll see which one catches on and go from there, eh?

Right now my display name here is my real name so I'll probably just use that so it'll be either LiamBoyle, or lpboyle. Happyhippiebilly, combat hippie, and dragondaddy are all names I've used in the past but the "handle" thing got burnt out for me a few years back.

I'll be happy just getting the new board. ;D FWIW, I lost my handle and over 10,000 posts in another board switch over a couple of yrs. ago, but I managed to get over it.

I'd like to see realworld-name derived handles used. To be honest all these tags just merge and I confuse some members. And I have less of a bond for people using them - like it dehumanises them. I'd like to see real names...
Being that SBG has a reputation for being a friendly extended family kind of place I feel that real names will also promote a friendlier environment. It creates accountability, and will help people to behave like they would in person to person relationships. It reduces the anonimity behind which cowards hide - for example; while being obnoxious, abusive, or trolling our digs.
Thats how I feel about it anyway. Old tags in the Sigs or in brackets will obviously help.

It's not like I'm famous or anything so no one would be saying "Whatever happened to Slackitude?" but I could put my old name in my signature just in case...Food for thought...

Thanks for the inspiration ;D +1 to you ;D

Now the trick will be recognizing people by their real names. Could use an add on saying "The swordsman formally known as RicWilly".

...Does making my SN out of what I'll be legally changing my name to in a few months count as using my real name?

Midori isn't my actual name, but I dislike my name so much I'll be legally changing it to Midori right around the time I get married, lol.

My SN is the name I prefer because I can't stand my real name; I've been picked on for it for one reason or another for more than half my life (not really saying much considering how young I am, but still, 16 years is a long time to be picked on for something).

I hear that, which is another reason I'm changing my name. Plus I'm named after someone I can't stand.
...I have way too many reasons to hate my name, lol.
