As far as I know there are no sellers in the UK that stock any cheness products.
To be honest you shouldn't bother with cheness. You can get much better swords for the money.

(does anyone even SAY that anymore? ) Cheness is mediocre at best... check out Hanwei, Dynasty Forge, Munetoshi, SBG's custom katana, Roninkatana... the list goes on. And they're ALL better than Cheness, lol. Hope this helps... -Slayer

All that cheness hate... Lemme say that their blades are VERY good, especially for beginners, tough and cut extremely well. The handles are meh, that's true but at least the ones I got were perfectly functional.

Hey, for 1/2 the asking price, I'd agree with you 100%, man... but they ARE overpriced, and no one can adequately deny that. I have two cheness swords, and for the price I paid (50 bucks for one, $100 for the other), they were absolute steals. But for $250 each for those same swords? No-freakin'-way. Just my $0.02. -Slayer

Cheness needs to step up their game, in my opinion. Don't think this thread needs to degenerate into a Cheness quality argument though. We've plenty of those already, no?

^well said, and agreed. Sorry for my part in the debate so far; I just didn't want the OP to buy what I feel is an inferior sword. I definitely will refrain from aiding said degeneration. ;D Thanks for the reminder to 'stay nice', lol. -Slayer

That said, is there any particular reason you want a Cheness, specifically? Is there something about them that appeals to you at a greater level than other swords?
Please don't say anything about magical super steels.

Yes i have one reason. I wann cheness o-katana. The size is good. One thing i hate its a fake hamon. btw SBG review tells nothing bad about it. Cheness have 30.9 mm width instead of 34-35mm. I like that. And of course the 9260 spring steel. Anyone can say me cheaper steel that can do that? And its extremely durable. First i wanted cold steel o-katana, but its heavy and have small handle. But this is a variant. From dynasty forge i like 42" shobu katana. But if u have another interesting variants tell me Also i wanted buy dual katanas just for fun (musashi bamboo for example) instead of one good. It will look cool But if it will be good quality o-katana it will satisfy me.

Ah, okay. Yeah, there's not much out there for decent o-katana. This is probably the one area Cheness still holds its ground. I haven't ben able to find any UK-based stores that stock Cheness via Google, but maybe some of our UK members know of some? Worst-case, I wonder what it would take to import from the States...

Yeah.. the import is the worst part. The guy it will ship to have channel to Ukraine. Later the sword will be reshipped to my country to solve customs problem.

I was under the impression that customs evasion was illegal? Regardless of how it is shipped it will still have to go through customs.
I wouldn't want to risk jail, especially not for a cheness.

For $200 more, you could get the Kensei Fudo Handachi piece. It's a 33" nagasa, differentially hardened, and...well...it's a Kensei. They are held to a higher standard.

I have to ask: Can you order directly from Cheness' website? I've heard that the UK has some harsh laws regarding edged weaponry; does this include online orders? Edit: Found this online for a UK sword dealer; hope it helps: www.bujinkan-store.com/katanas/o-katana/ But if it will be good quality o-katana it will satisfy me. I have Cheness' 9260 O-katana. I can say from personal experience that it's well constructed and can take a beating. You're getting your money's worth if you buy it. --Edward

Yeah thanks ecovolo. That helped! Can you order directly from Cheness' website? I think it makes no sense. The price will be the same with customs fee and shipping plus customs problem.

By the time you pay to have it shipped and pay any fees you may incur you are better buying off from inside the UK. You really should direct your attention away from cheness. The reviews on the SBG site are incredibly outdated and should be taken with a healthy pinch of salt. Being a sword collector also in the UK I understand how important it is to get good value for your money. Cheness WONT provide this for you. The prices and selection available here are already bad so don't waste your money on an already over priced sword. The only quality manufacturer that you will find being sold and shipped from a UK vendor is Hanwei. I know you want a certain type of katana but you are better off buying something of a good quality. www.barringtons-swords.co.uk/ have all of the Hanwei raptor line for a decent price and as mentioned oriental-weaponry.co.uk also have everything hanwei do. For anyone that wants to perpetuate the cheness myth then please provide some form of demonstrable evidence to back up their massive cost verses quality deficit.
