I guess this is a little early, but would anybody be interested in a little Mini Moyushi in the Kansas City area this summer? I'm planning on a decent amount of cutting this summer, but it'd be a lot more fun with more people. Thoughts?

I dunno. Thinking maybe a weekend in Mid June - Late July. Somewhere in there and make a Saturday of it? I'm open to suggestions.

Bryn, I love it when we gather our people for a good time, please take lots of video and share experiences with us if you get this to fly. some tips if I may:
SAFETY! start out by seperating the cutting area from the viewing area by a large distance (think "how far can I throw a sword?" and add 5 feet) chain link fences and other physical barriers are a great reminder to folks to keep out of the danger area. start the day out with a safety talk (brief for us military guys) where you lay down the rules. STICK to the rules. at my Mini Moyoushi last year a sword did in fact go flying in what could have been a dangerous manner but the area it flew to was empty of people because of our safety precautions and no one was hurt. you do a lot of cutting in one day and one or two accidents are likely to happen your planning can make the difference between a "funny story" and a "tale of horror"
start stock-piling targets NOW! targets go very fast at this sort of event, it is very hard to have too many.
plan for food. even if it is "pot-luck" at least everyone knows they should bring something. no one wants to party on an empty stomach.
and back to safety: Alcohol is for AFTER the cutting is done AND the swords are cleaned and put away. make no exceptions here and anyone who violates should be politely asked to leave (by the person with the biggest sword - just kidding about the sword but do ask them to leave or at least no longer participate in weapons activities).
I hope that isn't preachy but I'd hate for there to be any mini moyoushi disaster stories here.
I hope you pull this off and have a great time.

Tom good advice is never preachy, at least it shouldn't be taken that way.
Have a +1 on me for putting out good advice for all of us.
