This summer it is my intention to save up some money and buy my first Angus Trim sword. So that's where you guys come in! Right now I'm looking to get the 1326 (Type XIII Triple Fuller). I swear I've been pining away for that one for about a year and a half now. But I also wanted to hear if any of you guys had any particular thoughts on this model (I haven't heard a single negative comment), or if there's another model you think I should look into. Mostly I'm looking at medium to large size swords, and oriented more towards the cut than the thrust. Preferably wieldable with either one or two hands. That Austrian War Sword prototype that was reviewed looks nice, too bad it was a one off! So is there anything else I should be looking at, or am I on the money with the 1326? I already emailed Christian Fletcher about what he has in stock, so hopefully I'll hear back from him soon. Unfortunately, I won't have enough money until early July (or maybe late June), so hopefully they have enough of the 1326 in stock, lol.

www.christianfletcher.com/Christian_Fletcher/Austrian_Greatsword.htmlMy Austrian is only the prototype of the above sword. the full version has a different cross guard but is the same sword. the thing with ATrims at Christian Fletcher's site is that they don't really "Stock" much in the way of swords. if there's a sword you really want just tell Christian that's what you want and Gus will make it. I highly reccomend the Austrian Great Sword. I know I used it one handed in some of my videos but it really is a dedicated two handed sword.

You don't want a thruster so I can't recommend the 1432 but I what about the 1562? Tom did a review on one and if the grip is right it seems to be a very good cutter that still thrusts a bit. The triple-fullered is awesome too of course.

I had the 1326... in my opinion for its price it is the BEST Bastard sword for cutting there is. It is, to me, the very essence of what a Bastard Sword should be... useable in one hand as a powerful sword, but in two hands SUPER light and lighting fast. With its wide blade its a great cutter... not designed as much of a thruster but it will do in a pinch. Also the really wide blade and tripple fullers are very unique looking, it has a style and look all its own. My only problem with it was the grip. Its 7 inchs, which for most people should be perfect for a Bastard sword... my hands are just to big, I need either 8 inchs or a pommel shape that gives a bit more space. I'll have an AT1562 soon, I'll share thoughts on that one when I get it. The Austrian Great Sword looks to be an AWESOME blade... but more of a true two handed sword then a bastard sword in my eyes. So it depends on what you want... if you want a true two handed sword, I don't think you could go wrong with this one. If you want a bastard sword, the 1326 is a stud.

If being weildable with one or two hands is something important in your choice then the 1326 will be extremely hard to beat. From all you describe it fits the bill perfectly.

Keep in mind that if one-handed use is a requirement, don't go over a 7-inch grip. With a longer handle, it just becomes awkward.
For a cut-biased hand&half I can't think of anything that would beat a 1326. It verily rocks in the cut, and will cleave in twain any you apply it to! ;D

Well, I think it looks like I was on the right track with the 1326. I'm just hoping that no one buys it before I have the money for the deposit! I'd rather not wait til summer is over, since I have absolutely nowhere to cut on campus...
Tom and cf, I think I'm definitely going for a bastard sword at this point, but I'll keep those suggestions in mind for the future. Actually, at first I was just thinking about the KC viking sword (you might notice a pattern here, lol), but I've set a goal for myself this summer and I might as well set the stakes high for it. I kind of wish it had an extra inch or two on the blade, but when it's in my hands I'll most likely forget about that, haha.

I think you'll like it as-is for single-handed use, and will adjust to it for two-handed use. I would like it to be an inch longer in the grip and 2-3 inches longer in the blade...for a dedicated two-hander longsword. But then again, that's not what it is.

I too have had my eye...ok, both eyes...on the 1326. I hope you get the money together soon so I don't get it. I've spent enough money on swords for this year.

Yeh, would be a whole different sword then, don't think I woulda let it go if it were that way. Just got my 1562... first impressions are very favorable...

Well, crap. I went online earlier to email CF about the procedure for putting down a reserve payment, and when I checked the website the 1326 was out of stock. Any other suggestions? I hear the wait time is killer... You don't think there's a chance of any being done by July, do you? Any other swords I should take a look at?

My fav's are the 1432, 1509,1557, and 1562, but none of those fit your parameters very well. On a side note, would any of you happen to have pics of a 1326? I've never seen one. Thanks, and good luck! Remember, the 1432 is pretty close to your ideal choice, but is cut and thrust, rather than all-cut. -Slayer

Slayer, the 1432 doesn't help if it's out of stock as well. Also, ShooterMike has a video up of the 1326, that's what made me first like it. Since it's his, I won't post it, but if you search for "ATrim Maker's Mark Triple Fuller" it's the first that comes up.
