Well I did it I just bought this sword: www.swordnarmory.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=JH-6106I have been looking for a while now, and doing lots of looking and reading, ordered some books, read some reviews, watched videos, and been hanging out here. I liked the way it looked and I liked the fact that it was DH. I hope It all turns out ok I am already exited about it!!! cannot wait!!

Sounds to me like you did the right things and picked a good sword to start out on. Some of that list of what you did must have had an effect.

Like I said this is my first sword.
I'll be happy to review it when I get it, but I may not "cut" with it for a while, I am having a hard time finding some one to "teach" me just enough to not hurt myself.
But I bought an Iaito to use for a while till i get the hang of it so to speak.
I'll post a visual review for sure.

Congratulations! I'm not a katana guy but from all I've heard you've done your research well and picked a good brand for your first sword. It's good that you're thinking about safety, too. Have a karma by way of a "high five", dude.

BWAHAHAHAAH! WE HAVE CORRUPTED MORE SOULS!
It still bothers me with the whole 'says t-10 in the title and description, but the paperwork says 1095' thing. Sounds like you made a pretty solid choice though.
Smart of you to get an iaido. Some of us weren't so safe when we started. *points at self*

t-10 is really just a Chinese variant of 1095 most likely. it may have a few more random impurities but for the most part it seems like it is 1095 and the Chinese use it as a 1095 substitue and do not make much (if any) differentiation between the two. I know we have had this debate before and I know what has been said on both sides but to me, this seems the most honest answer and I may still be wrong.
whatever T-10 is or isn't it is a fine steel for swords and I have been happy with all the T-10 blades I've seen.
and to mtrewyn, you get a karma from me for training blunt. getting an iaito to practice with was an excellent idea and I hope you continue to practice with it well down the road. I've been cutting with sharps for some time now but I still use my blunts to train with, you just never out-grow the need for a good training blunt/iaito. I wish more people did this.

good choice. you certainly seem like someone who thinks things through. you bought a good blade from a good vendor, I don't think you have anything to worry about, except maybe butterfingers shipping co.

Thanks for all the Positive feed back, I get accused of "over thinking" things, but the last thing I want is something dangerous in my house that I don't know about, That way I at least "feel" safe. Thanks for the Karma guys. Maybe I'm on the right track....
