Shiny is merely a metaphorical representation for the attractive things we see, which catch our eye. Shiny CAN = rusty! I understand what your saying but I must disagree, shiny represents new, clean, pristine, sterile, where as rusty represents old, used, occasionally abused, whether it is a sword or motorcycle or whatever, the perfectly preserved chrome show bike that never gets ridden has no interest for me, but the dirty well worn scratched up leaking one with all the miles on it, to me, is a piece or art, the same applys to swords Rusty is merely a temporal manifestation of shiny! Afer all most rusty things were once shiny. It's only a matter of time.

And they can be pretty ambitious, my little girl Sonja used to try and drag off things that were easily 5-10x her body weight. Pretty funny to watch actually. Nothing is bigger than a ferret! Our ferret Gideon (RIP) used to run our dogs right out of the room! One is a German Sheppard and the other a Rottie/Mastiff mix, there is a lot of attitude in one of those things. ;D

AH YES TIME that is the key! if something is in perfect new condition it show's no shared history with it's owner, where has it been, what has it done? (and people say objects cant speak)

No rusty says to me, ill used and badly maintained or antique. Letting something deliberately rust when it is in your power to stop it is just neglectful or laziness.

This is true to a certain extent. However, I would argue that the value of an object will determine the effort I'm going to put into maintenance. Also, at least here up north, things used outdoors will rust no matter how much effort is put into prevention. Cars in particular, even if washed weekly, will rust because of the salt used on roads to control ice. Sometimes you just can't win.

Well point 1, XV is a stabby sword...in fact it´s the MOST stabby sword of the typology.
Point 2...I would say I´m a fox because I know about various swords...but then again it isn´t just passing general stuff either. I do know quite a bit of info...so maybe mr. owl? Now where is that tootsie pop?
