The 2010 Faire Season is upon us!We are only a month away from opening, so I decided to start a thread so that any attendees can keep in touch with one another, as well as know who else is going for tenative meet ups. Normally, I'll go 3-4 weekends a year. I know this year I'll be going on Saturday during the opening weekend (04/17); but I'll also post other dates so if anyone interested cares to get together. Let us know your plans here!

The faire draws nearer. Anyone else going opening weekend? I dunno, should I? I often attend the last day of the Faire... because thats when it is easier to haggle with the vendors... they would rather sell it then lug it around. This is even more true of Faire's in the fall since wares will just sit around all winter long.

This is even more true of Faire's in the fall since wares will just sit around all winter long. I go to interact with friends and people-watch. If I buy anything medieval/renaissance oriented, I do so on the internet; no faire gypsy sees any of my money. The only thing I buy at the faire other than the occasional bread bowl or soda. Example: Faire Sky Chair = $129.95 + 7% Sales Tax Same Exact Sky Chair on eBay = $30.00 + $15.00 S/H For me, it's about the networking and common interests. Screw any purchasing of faire wares for myself. The price is just way too over-inflated for my liking.

Very true... which is why I like to haggle. Sometimes you do find some things that I don't see online... most times not tho. I buy very little at RenFaire's these days since the Internet... but now and again I get a shirt or some bracers or a staff or some such thing. I mainly go to hang out and 'people watch' as you say as well. The only thing I buy at the faire other than the occasional bread bowl or soda. I notice you didn't mention beer and mead... ya wanna talk about inflated prices!

By the looks of it, Laithoron and myself will be there on Saturday opening weekend. I may or may not come on Sunday, but Laithoron will definately being there as he is staying with some friends at the faire. When we get a little closer to magic hour and if you know when you are going, let me know via PM and I will shoot you my phone number. *** As for beer and mead, we drink plenty. We just bring our own!

We bring flasks and wine skins in with us. But, we also have a number of vendor / faire worker friends that can just bring larger quantities of stuff in and hold it for us in their shoppes if we wish. To be honest, we could get a keg in there if we wanted.

To be honest, we could get a keg in there if we wanted. You had me at keg. . . Hopefully I'll be back soon. Sounds like I'll miss opening weekend. I can't wait to go! I love the faire! And Sean doesn't people watch BTW. . . he hates people. Don't be fooled! We walk around all day and go into shops with no intentions on buying anything. And if we do buy anything, it's all done in $1 "gold" coins. HA! I seriously need to start bringing flasks to the faire. (hint hint husband who will read this in no time) ;D

I people watch... true, I don't like the people... I don't wanna talk to them, just look at them... sometimes point and laugh. Or in the case of Casey, the amazingly hot acrobat from 'Barley Ballanced'... I just like to drool... ;D You can bring a flask or wineskin with ya next time if you wish... your always fun if you just have a LITTLE to drink... heh heh.

Scarbourough faire opening day April 10. Perhaps you should start a thread for your area faire to see if you can round up some SBG members for a impromptu get-together!
