I'm trying to find any real information on the Kult of Athena Saxon Long Sword. Has there been a review here or elsewhere on it's capability? They say it's battle ready...is it? Any info would be helpful and most apprecieated!
Thanks

Well...it's a Deepeeka. That's seldom a good thing. I'd steer clear of it, myself, but others may offer actual experience.

I listed this as the worst sword I have ever owned in thread last year - a broom handle is more combat ready than this sword is. This remains to be true. My advice would be to save a tad more money and go for a H/T Viking.

My advice would be to save a tad more money and go for a H/T Viking. I agree. The H/T Viking is only alittle more expensive but is a great sword for the price. It and the Norman give swords like the Albion Squire Line swords a run for their money.

There was another sword, I think a Del Tin, with a similar hilt to this one that got a pretty good review. Or was it a Windlass? I forget.

Dang...well scratch that idea. I really like the look of the Saxon Long Sword, but I want a real sword and not a wallhanger. Any suggestions? Links? Reviews? THANKS

I got a early medieval saxon long sword from DSA that I'm working on, took a wicked edge and the handle and sheath carve nicely and its rugged as all get out. DSA get my vote.

Luka, I think it's general consensus that the Beowulf is just as bad as the Saxon, their hilts break...

I remember one or more of our members reported that their (plastic) rings broke off their (plastic) pommels, but was the rest of the sword as bad?

I remember about the ring being plastic but I thought rest of the sword is fine. And I handled the sword in shop and it looked fine to me.

The Bewoulf is a good sword, I think after all the complaints about the plastic ring, they made it out of mettal??
But a good blade non the less...SanMarc

Looked on their website but my google-fu must be weak because I couldn't locate a Saxon Long Sword on the DSA website. Like I said...I like the clean looks but it must be a cutter and not a wall hanger. The last thing I want to deal with is a broken hilt or a blade springing back at me! OUCH!!

Wouldn't those rivets on the pommel and cross guard gouge your hand on an active swing? I like the look, though I'd rather have leather on the grip than just wood and it looks a little small. I am a little concerned about too thin of a tang.

It was said in the revues that wearing gloves was best, and the tang is fine, it is more of a light slashing cutter than a heavy chopping cutter......SanMarc.
