You might want to try posting this in the Classifieds section.

If you are interested, there are a number of swordsmiths and cutlers who have a presence on this forum who can make you a replica of that sword that'll be worlds better than the Windlass/MRL version.
Odinblades, Tinker Swords, Baltimore Knife and Sword, Fable Blades - these four shops are full-on custom swordsmiths; they can make pretty much anything you can draw on paper for a sword. You could also try Christian Fletcher; he makes custom swords (and belts and scabbards) using handmade Atrim blades - he does the rest.
It'd be a much better sword than the MRL version...unless it is the licensing that means somethin to you?

I have handle I could sell you, but that's it. I saw one for sale in the classified quite a while ago, but I doubt it would still be there. I think it was jpfranco selling it so you could ask him.

You're right, eruialsul...he sure is/was. Ericfeid, I'd go speak with jpfranco first if its the MRL you've got your heart set on. I think he even has the scabbard and belts as well.

we were recently talking about how very reasonable John Lundemo's fees tend to be. personally if I were willing to spend "BIG BUCKS" or even "medium sized male deer" I'd speek to Lundemo pretty quickly. why over pay for a Windlas when you could get the same thing only better from one of our custom smiths. good luck in your search please let us know how it turns out.

I loved the look of the sword in the movie. If you do get a replica made rather than the Windlass version be sure to put up some pics!

Hello
I think that getting someone to make it for you, if you have some money to spend, is a *great* idea. In this economy, why not encourage our bladesmiths by buying their goods? One more blade sold will make a bigger difference to them than it would to, say, hanwei - and unlike hanwei, they will do custom work. And you will own something unique - because there will be no other sword exactly like it.
That being said, I would give you one warning. Because this is a "movie sword", some makers may not be willing to do it. I'm not saying all of them will say no. But some may not feel comfortable making the design (intellectual property issues etc). If it happens, just move on to the next one.
cheers,

I'd go with the custom over the Windlass if at all possible. I have the Windlass "war sword" which is the same blade and handle as their sword of Ibelin, and while it's pretty nice, and I sure like it, it's not balanced nearly as well as I'd like. It's certainly a good deal for the $150 I paid for it, but I would expect a heck of a lot better if I were paying "big bucks" for it.

I'd also like to chime in with OlliN Sword Design. They've done some fantastic custom work. In fact, that's they're bread and butter business, and they have some great reviews.
