I just saw the Nomad Sword on Darksword Armoury's website. I love it, what do you guys think? You can tell its kind of their replacement for the ranger after UC got the rights to the LOTR designs back. Thankfully its much lighter than their ranger sword, and the POB is an inch from the guard, which I like with a sword. Here is the link: www.darksword-armory.com/1321-The-Nomad-Medieval-Sword.html

It's not a bad design -in fact I like it better then their other fantasy swords- but as is DSA's tendency, the guard strikes me as too big. If I ended up with one of these, the first thing I'd do is break out my tools and slim the cross down.

I like the looks of The Nomad. I have spent a couple of hours studying the pictures and the specs. I like a two handed sword and the type of pommel that's on The Nomad. The guard is kind of unique looking. I have already emailed DSA about the pommel and they said it was a peened pommel. I'm still thinking about the blade, starting out at the guard at 1.5 inches wide. I wonder about the striking force it would have and its cutting power. I can see it would be devastating with a thrust. If I knew that the DSA sharpening that I would order would look and cut real good I would more than likely order one. I am interested in this sword, and I also would like to hear what some other people think about it.

Tempered- Take a look in the general section at the 'DSA Sharpening thread. Apparantly, DSA hired a pro shrpener, so the previous issues *should* be gone. I stress 'should', however, as no one I know of has yet recieved this new and improved edge. Hope this helps. -Slayer

Hairu...I just got thru reading all the DSA sharpening thread. Go to "Sharpening and Polishing" and look under "Current Discussions". Slayer...Thanks for the information, now I can go thru the process of buy it, don't buy it, get the Medieval single hand sword, no-buy The Nomad! Decisions, decisions!

I've already decided the Nomad will be my next sword. The design and the balance calls to me, I'll be honest. When I have the funds in place to acquire it I'll let you guys know and I'll give it a thorough review.

I usually don't care for green on swords, but his one just screams for a dark green hilt... Anyone else seeing it?

I may wait to see your review. This will probably be my next sword also, if it turns out well.

I like this one, but am in agreement re: guard size; other than that, this one's right up my alley in terms of size and balance. At least on paper, it is.

I just ordered the medieval Squire from DSA and paid for the sharpening, and I'll be posting my first review when I receive it. Granted, I'm still extremely new to everything, so I'm not sure how helpful it will be, but that's what pictures are for, right?

I really like many of Darksword's new offerings but this one I do not. It's actually one of the only new ones that I don't like. I am just not that fond of the guard.

The pictures on Kult of Athena show the leaf motif not meeting with the ricasso evenly, thats my only gripe about this sword, otherwise i like it alot.
Im new btw, so hello everyone.

If i got a Darksword, sword it would probably be either this one or the guardian, that said i would agree that it is very nice sword. The only reason i would think twice about it is that ricasso motif thing. not quite to my taste. But hey if you like it, don't let me stop you.

I own it, I probably should review it... it's a great sword, very lively in the hands. The guard and pommel could definitely be slimmed down, but I'm cool with it as is. It's my favourite DSA, and I own several.
