Talk about exemplary; I like that in a vendor.

Is the sword in its original condition other than the scabbard issue? If so, and if the company you ordered it from won't take it back and replace it. Arms of Valor, Ltd. will take it back and replace it. On heard of, I know, but If you can't get it fixed it will bother you for the rest of the time you own the sword. Jason Arms of Valor, Ltd. Jason, that is very generous of you, but I don't think it will be necessary. My vendor is leaving tomorrow for a 5 week trip (lucky bugger). The timing isn't very good for me. But he's a good guy and (just as importantly) he's an armorer AND ex airplane mechanic. I'm pretty sure he has the skills necessary to get whatever the heck that thing is out of there. I definitely will contact him. He's local to me so there is no need for shipping etc. So I know it will be taken care of one way or the other, it's just that the time sucks. If I had a long, thin and *stiff* wire, I might be able to try to do it myself. I had the same problem and I got another scabbard which is fine for now from my sword dealer. Now isn't that interesting... there seems to be a a bug somewhere in the manufacturing process.

If anything this makes me want to try a CSS makeover of the Hanwei/Tinker line like Brissybeater's recent purchase.

Yes, it looks like layers of fiberglass get "unglued" and make an obstackle to the blade when sheating it.

Could you use a straightened clothes hanger?

"If I had a long, thin and *stiff* wire, I might be able to try to do it myself." Could you use a straightened clothes hanger? Good idea but... after repeated attempts, it did not work

Wow, I'm a bit late to this thread, but props to Jason for his fantastically generous offer. ;D This is why I love AoV so much. Jason will go out of his way and make stuff harder for himself just to make people happy; sometimes, as this exapmle shows, even when they aren't his customers! Major kudos and a +1 2 U! Please resume as planned. -Slayer

I got a message back from my dealer (dealer... sounds like we're talking drugs... are swords a drug? ) He says that he's had to fish all kind of things out of scabbards (he does ceremonial sword restoration for the army) including cigarette butts! He even had made a special tool for it. So I'll just have to be patient.

you'll just have to be patient? does that mean he's telling you to do it yourself and be patient while you work or that he'll do it but you will have to wait for him to get the time or something else?
thanks for the update, keep us posted.

He's going to do it, but I'll have to be patient because although he is local, he's leaving for a 5 week trip - seeing museums AND getting some sun! Hence the "lucky bugger" comment earlier! He didn't tell me to be patient, that's my own conclusion.
