Darksword is liquidating some DSA1304s (Darksword Squire) that didn't quite pass Quality Control for 42% off. Make with the clicky if you want to see it on the ebay.Is a $260 sword for $150 worth the cosmetic defects to the hilt? Does the Squire compare favorably with the Knightly Sword or the Norman in terms of quality? In your much more knowledgeable opinion(s), should I be jumping at this opportunity? Thanks in advance for your advice.

we've had some very unhappy customers of DSA's scratch and dent sales lately. that doesn't mean this one will be bad and it doesn't mean shouldn't buy it, it just means you should be aware of the gamble you are taking.
what I would do is get in contact with Eyal and ask him a lot of serious questions to make sure you fully understand the actual condition of the sword and how serious the defects may be exactly. don't let him just blow you off and give you generic non-specific answers, make sure you know exactly how much how bad how deep.
or just skip it as a bad gamble.
or roll the dice.

Tom - I was one of those said unhappy customers; I was sent with a blade that had a twisted blade and a pommel that was twisted in such a way that the edge gouged into my wrist. In addition, it was blunt instead of sharp. The resolution they gave was to send out a new sword, and let me keep the blunt. I'm still waiting on the arrival of the replacement for a more propery reply in the original thread, but if it has no structural defects, then I will be wholly satisfied with how they corrected the mistake, because in exchange for some minor hassle, I was able to give my nephew his first blunted sword.
Daniel: a DSA second could be promising if you give a email follow-up shortly after ordering requesting that your order be double-checked to make sure it only has visual/cosmetic defects and not structural ones. Structural defects are things like bent or twisted blades, in some cases if the pommel is twisted, or loose fittings. Visual/cosmetic things are slightly misaligned fullers or guards, wavy uneveness to flade surfaces, scratches and scuffs, etc. In my case, they more than made up for their error.

Thanks. I think I'll pass on the Defect if I can get a new one for cheaper.
And yes, I think I've narrowed it down to the DSA Norman, the DSA Knightly/Squire, or the G2 Crusader.

Depends on what you want it for- for use or display? Like others have said, talk to Eyal first- find out exactly what is amiss- maybe you can get him to set aside a specific sword that he checks out for you (or someone else does in the shop, you know, check for what sort of defects it has) so you know the one you'll be sent.
DSA is on the up and up- if you're not happy, they'll go that extra mile to see that you are.
