Fable blades

Well I've been having a crappy couple of months and so when I received a note telling me that I had a package it didn't really spark any emotion. So after trudging down to the post office having the girl in there look at me like I was smoking something, or she was and then getting told off by the postal delivery guy I finally had a package in hand. When I looked at the name of the sender and what the package actually was my heart just about stopped. With trembling hands I raced home as fast as my legs could carry me (mostly to get out of the blaringly hot sun) took a knife to the packing and...
That's when I woke up and found it was all a dream...
Actually that isn't what happened, I opened the package, almost cutting myself in the process, cut through the mile of newspaper and was almost so excited I started on the PVC pipe (not really but hey, can you blame me?) When I finally got her unwrapped Nyere was looking back at me and I am absolutely flawed. What you have to understand is that this is the blade that almost wasn't. I commissioned her from Bren a few months ago and with one thing and another didn't have the money for her. Bren being the great guy he is told me he would put her up for sale but if I came up with the money then I should let him know. Now I'm the sort of person who if I commission something then I must follow through or I feel like I've wronged the maker.
Now I have Nyere in hand and all I can say is wow! As most of you will know I have the first ever blade made under the Fable blades logo so it is interesting to note the quality then and now. I don't have access to a camera so unfortunately I can't do the full review thing but this thing leaves me speechless. I have never been a fan of falx style blades but after seeing a picture from forum member johnerickson I got in touch and asked him if he'd mind if I got them realised in steel. John was more than happy to let me as long as I acknowledged who the designer was. So just incase John missed it ( ) these were designed by forum member and artist Johnerickson.
It is well balanced and there is enough room on the grip for both my hands. This weapon is so alive in the hand and she dances and floats in the hand and in the cut (dry handling). Her weight and her PoB allows her to pivot well through some of the looping cuts that I learned to do with kali sticks and just general playing around that I do to try and meld the different influences I have learned together.
My favourite part of this blade is the handle, I absolutely love the wood and the way that Bren has done the handle is exquisite and topped off like a cherry on top is the quenya word burned into the handle. This one is done in the tactical style which I am really starting to prefer. In hand and in person this weapon feels like a giant kabutowari and with the thickness of the spine I think this thing could go through a helmet or a coconut.
Well that was my short review type thing, if I get access to a camera it will be longer indeed.
Just a shout out to Bren, he has outdone himself on this piece and the more he grows and the more he learns he is getting right up there with some of the better known smiths in terms of quality. If you have a design in your head or something you want reproduced then talk to Brendan at fableblades. He is a great guy with a great product and you won't be disappointed.
