Who do they ship with? UPS could be sent to retrieve it. If its USPS you would probably have to try to contact the person at that address yourself. I'm kicking myself... I ordered a Medieval Knight sword off of the members sale at the end of September, and when it didn't arrive when Eyal said it would, I started to wonder. I exchanged a few emails, and they said it WAS delivered and signed for. Eyal was nice enough to send me the tracking info, and apparently I had had a big brain fart, and put down my old address, from when I used to live in Michigan. Whoops! I hope whoever lives there now is enjoying their free sword! I'm wondering if Eyal can help me out on this, or if I'm out $190?

Allright, I have a buddy living in the area, he was able to go to the address and pick the sword up, and he's going to send it to me. Lucky me! Eyal did his best to help me out, offered to contact UPS for me and arrange a pickup. Darksword gets mega points from me in terms of customer service, you couldn't ask for better. I'm totally buying from them again.

Eyal understands the importance of customer service- to me, that makes or breaks a deal; good customer service will keep them coming back. Act crappy with your customers, you're likely going to miss out on repeat customers and that'll only hurt your business.
I'm not a fan of his earlier work, but I had no problem pointing others to his site- just because I don't like something doesn't mean someone else will follow suit automatically; as we see here, a number of forumites like his work and continue to do business with him.
If he was an azzhole, there'd be none of that, I'm sure of it.

I'm not a rubber stamp DSA fanboy either, but some of their stuff is unique enough and cool enough that it just jumps in the mail and heads my way. Some of their swords just don't do it for me, and I pass on those.
As far as weight, yes they are stout, but I am 6'1" and weigh 210 so the weight doesn't really bother me. I never gave a hoot about weight until getting the Kreigschwert. That blade opened my eyes to what everyone goes on about with weight and balance.
To me, being able to pick up the phone and talk to Eyal about concerns, issues, or just to say "I like it" is worth alot. The evolution of their products is proof that he listens.

Wow... Sounds like he sent you a very interesting PM. Blegh. I just don't understand his raw anger... everyone has gotten lemon swords... even from very good makers, even from custom makers. If you don't try and give the maker/vendor a chance to make it right before you blast them... well, then its not fair to jump all over them. They need a chance to make it right... its only fair. I got an interesting PM from him too...looks like shortly before he deleted his account. Tried to reply back, but no dice.

I ordered a sword on the 16th of October for a squire second. On the 24th I sent an email requesting an update on my order, as I had not gotten confirmation. The next day, DSA replied and said that they were at a trade show since the 14th, and that they would send it. This was a minor negative; when dealing with a smaller company some delays are to be accepted, if less than ideal.
I received the sword today, on the 3rd of November. Unpacking it, I realized that they had accidentally sent an unsharpened sword. This is a major negative; now I will have to deal with sending it back to Canada, and and a greater wait for the actual product I ordered.
I'm hoping this is an unfortunate anecdote, but two negatives (one small, one major) in the same order is disheartening.
Sent an email to DSA regarding this mixup. I'll update on the resolution to this problem.

Well, I wasn't going to mention any of this on the board, but they accidentally sent me an unsharpened one, too! And I wasn't even offered the option of sending it back, they just automatically refunded the money that they would've charged for sharpening it, and said they'll sharpen the next one for free. Also, I don't think the 100 Year War sword was supposed to have any defects like the Squire and the Knight were, and my blade is definitely a little twisted toward the end. I don't know what to think of this. I'm just going to live with it the way it is, even though I doubt I'll ever be able to get it sharp like I want. So far, I've done about 2,500 passes with an Accusharp on each side of the blade and it's still only really sharp toward the tip. I wouldn't complain because obviously there has been enough of that on this thread but I'm just really disappointed, you know?

Understandably so, even if you don't want to hassle with the sharpening mix up, a blade with a twist is a horse of a different color. What was their response to that if any?

I didn't even bother telling them because I noticed it after I had done the sharpening so I figured they wouldn't want me to send it back. Since I was sharpening it, I wasn't looking down the flat of the blade and didn't notice it until after. I think the twist would be more of an issue if it was more toward the hilt but it's toward the tip more so I think it's not something that'll be an issue in cutting. I'm just annoyed about it, really.

Rather discouraging that something like that would get by them on a sword that wasn't sold as a second.
Taking a small twist isn't unheard of in heat treating a blade, but usually it is straightened immediately upon discovery, or sold as a second depending on the severity of twist.
If it wont affect your edge alignment, or cutting efficiency, you may be able to live with it. Best of luck, and keep us posted.

Upon looking the sword over more thoroughly, I've discovered some major flaws, including ones similar to what spqr pointed out:
-The edge is not true; it seems that the blade is twisted around four degrees up its length in uniform fashion. This throws off edge alignment during cuts, and would make resharpening a serious pain. This flaw is similar to what Kristie described.
-The pommel is twisted clockwise, in such a way that the edge of the pommel is liable to gouge against the inside of a wrist curing cuts. Both of these go beyond aesthetic problems and seriously hurt the performance of this sword.
All the other flaws (scratches, slightly misaligned fuller and guard) are to be expected with a second.
I will be returning this sword. This is very unfortunate, as I have heard good things about DSA swords, and it looks as if with their new revisions they will be increasing their quality.

I now know to stay away from the seconds for sure. I think all these flaws are more than cosmetic and should be sold for a bit less.

I wouldn't complain because obviously there has been enough of that on this thread but I'm just really disappointed, you know? Accusharp? Say it isn't so kristie...as for sharpening that badboy, I'd get with Eyal because you paid for a sharpened sword, if you wanted a blunt, you would've ordered one. I would run that one down, kristie...you should get what you ordered; that business about 'the next one' well...they couldn't get THIS one right, why would you order from them again, on the off chance that the same thing could happen? Primary reason why I like dealing with domestic businesses...its a lot easier to deal with; you've gotta send that thing back into the origin country and wait for it to make it back to you. That's no good; especially if the sword you bought was NOT part of that seconds sale. Let us know how that goes- you should contact him; a twisted blade is inexcusable.
