Stats-wise, it resembles my DS1503b, though the POB looks more lively on the new one. A good sword for a smaller/weaker swordsman or a light, fast blade for a larger person.

I take it the thin profile doesn't lend itself to grand cutting abilities, but I couldn't ignore the classic lines and that light weight

DOH! I had one of those riding swords in-house for a review. Then I forgot to post the review. DAMN MY EYES!
I would say that it's very different than any ATrim sword I ever handled before or since. It is very much like a smallsword that can cut VERY well. I had no problem cutting single tatami mats with it. But I accidentally deleted the video, so I can't prove it. Cutting plastic bottles was easy as well.
The way the sword is designed and executed, it feels lighter than... well... air even. It is the lightest feeling sword I have ever felt, by quite a bit. It is the closest thing to a fly-swatter you can imagine in a sword. Meaning that in a good way. I almost just paid Gus for it and kept it.
For someone who wants a light-weight, extremely fast sword, or for a child, it would be perfect. The blade is plenty stiff and would work as a great thrusting sword. But it cuts well too.

any plans to redo the video and release the review? I keep looking at that sword and keep thinking it might be nice.

When you try to buy the sword the price comes up as $450. Hm, thats interesting... its listed at $400. Also interesting that you tried to buy it... you snake. It says shipping charges are added automaticly... try buying another sword and see if it bumps the price 50 bucks... then you know that the extra is the S/H costs.

LOL, no I was just checking to see what the process was to buy it and what the total would be with the shipping charges. Shipping was $25.

any plans to redo the video and release the review? I keep looking at that sword and keep thinking it might be nice. Me too... its SUPER light for a sword of that length... I would if I still had it. Gus sent me 3 swords to play with and do reviews. I bought the one I really liked, the only one I could afford. One was the Type XVIa on CF's site. One was an experimental Hungarian saber with a pronounced yelman, and the third was this one. The saber is back for redesign. I bought the XVIa, and this little Riding Sword was a very close 2nd. I just forgot to write up the review and the video all turned out bad and poorly lighted. I will say that this little sword is SCARY FAST and handles like nothing I have ever seen... except maybe a rigid plastic rapier. And it cuts well. Single mats are no challenge at all. I think the price is supposed to be the same as all the other single-handers. I thought that was $450. Lol mike, would you also happen to have hands on time with the double fullered single hander? Which one? Type XII or XIV? I know of several of each type, but I'm not sure which ones have been posted yet.

Nope, never handled that one. But the numbers make it seem like it would be a very fast handling sword.
