Oh yeah they also make custom swords. I actually have a custom Glamdring being made by them at the moment, it will have white leather on the grip and scabbard with a sword belt included, go check out the DSA thread in the manufactures section and you will see what they are going to do on a Guardian sword they made. The sword will have an exact replica of the Glamdring blade but will have a slightly different pommel guard and grip.
I hear you on finding out about the Tinker line, I can't wait to get my Tinker Norman. I like the EMSHS but the pommel is a little big for my taste, I think the Norman, Viking and Great Sword have the best fittings. Also the Longsword has a very nice understated guard.

the GSOW has a terribley ugly colour on the grip and scabbard though if It was a darker red or a brown it would be far superior and this custom DSA thing fascinates me....

Call Ayal on the phone and discuss it with him to see if it is feasible, get an idea and send him a drawing. Speaking with him on the telephone gave me the impression that he is very interested in peoples impressions of his work, maintaining that quality, and was interested in what I had to say about his swords. In short, I think he would be more than willing to work up whatever you could think of within reason. Chuck

There is a darker brown available for the GSOW. It is the color present on KOA's site. Just shoot them an email (any of the retailers should have both colors, I don't see why not since everyone made a fuss about how "number 2" the color was) and make sure you get the darker one. Or just buy it through Sword Nation/Valiant Armoury and have them rewrap it.
That is, when you've replenished your sword funds. Mine will be out for quite some time, I think.

I don't think the brown you see at KoA is a darker brown Kid... I think its just different lighting/photography. If I get a GSoW... its going threw Sonny's Custom Sword Shoppe.

I'm only saying that Tinker told Hanwei the color was "poo" and they said they were going to also have a darker brown available. There is a darker brown color (seemingly) on KOA's picture, so reasonable deduction would say that their display model was one with the darker handle. I haven't noticed their lighting affecting the leather color on any of their other products. *shrug*
