OMG SWORD ABUSE!SOMEONE STRING HIM UP BY HIS TOES AND BASH HIS FACE IN WITH A FROZEN TURKEY LEG! that poor sword it hurts just looking at it Your just all sad because your Katana could not handle that brick without getting messed up... and our Euro swords made short work of it with barely a scratch! Suck it up you samurai wannabe!!! ;D Right, right!!! Now tell that all the stupid guys that think that the katana is the best sword of the world that nothing can stand in its way and that the medieval swords were crude, sluggish and way worse in quality. Even some historics think that. I just read a book by such an 'expert'. He claimed that the katana couldn't snap, bend or break nor loose it's razor sharp edge. I really dislike that he said with a medieval sword you could only stunn an ennemy but not cut him. AND THAT HE WRITES IN A SCHOOL HISTORY BOOK!

I'm of the opinion that katana are superb weapons but hype like this is just silly. what in the world could a sword be made out of that it will never bend OR break, OR wear down? maybe we should build bridge supports out of katana then. sadly this is the state of most school used history books, and not just on the subject of swords. in fact history itself tends to be full of wild claims. I did a term paper on Genghis Kahn once and I found several references in bookS by respected historianS that stated that "the TYPICAL Mongol horseman was so adept at shooting from horseback, that he could hit reliably hit a man-sized target with an arrow from a range of 400 yards" that's right guys 400 YARDS. ummmm ok fella. I put it in my term paper and I made sure I referenced the author directly so I could not get blamed for making up such a rediculous thing.

Yes, no kidding. It's really sad what some guys (in fact lots of them) say and think about swords. I mean if they REALLY want to be stupid, fine, but telling KIDS these things and make them believe them too is distressing. Especially about katanas there's SO much stupid stuff out there it's not even funny anymore.
400 YARDS? That's rediculous, NO bow shoots that far with enough accuracy to hit ANY target. Most bows don't even shoot 250 yards. The range record of traditional shooting with a turkish compostite bow is at about 600m which would be 650 yards. But that guy was shooting a bow twice as powerfull as the medieval longbow. No way a TYPICAL archer could do that.

Wow... I'd be lucky to reliably hit a man sized target with a bullet from an AR-15 (without scope) at 400 yards from a crouched firing position. Let alone moving... or on horseback... or with a recurved bow. Now of course, we are talking about trained battlefield warriors and they did use an excellent weapon... but even then... man-to-man arrow fire at 400 yards is AMAZING even NOT on horseback. At that distance normally your shooting into a crowd of enemies and hopefully hitting some... not laying down fire on a single selected target... while galloping on horseback. Legolas has got nothing on those guys... ;D

I figure it is perfectly possible to hit a man with an arrow from 400 yards. provided the archer is at the top of a cliff some 390 yards above his target.

true. but I think I understand the fatal flaws in my humorous statement involving angles which would actually make that a very hard if not impossible shot

I just watched this for the first time. I noticed immediately the flex at 1:36. And took this screen shot. I now see Mike noticed it too. Cool Eh?

That proves that the EMSHS has an excellent heat treatment.

True, only Ryansword Katana can chop iron, and cut a hole in the space-time continuum, allowing you to travel backward and forward in time at will. Guys, every respectable swordsman knows only a blunt katana can chop iron. Geez... By the way Tom, great video, I noticed youre sporting the "just a flesh wound" Black Knight shirt. Nice, very nice.
