Avery, Billiam, I go to the very same RenFaire once or twice a season... I'll be going at least 2 times for sure this year. I like it better then the ATL one because its a bit more temperate weather... even tho it is a longer drive. So thats two of us for sure, maybe three. Why don't you dress up Avery? Do you just not have anything to ware? I have a lot of clothes... I can bring ya something. Thats actually something I miss about the RenFaires in CA. They were a bit smaller then the ones out here... harder to afford the space in CA, but the participation of Faire goes was greater. In CA, it was about 75-80% of people at the faire dressed the part... here in NC and GA I find its more like 50% or less actually dress up. The sea of t-shirts and sunglasses kinda takes some of the fun out of it for me. This whole Anti-Weapon thing bugs me... I didn't even have to bother with peace ties back in CA... tho I don't really mind them too much. I *DO* mine when they try and put zip ties on my swords... sometimes that can mess up the leather on your grip. I tie mine up with leather string all nice and secure, and want them left alone when I show up at the gate. Give it a tug, make sure its not coming out, sure... but don't mess up my sword my putting one of those plastic things on there. I had a hand axe that I had tied really well to its harness, and I was prevented from bring that in (this was at the ATL GA Faire) which bugged me quite a bit. Do they REALLY think people are going to whip out their swords and start dueling?!? Cmon! This is anti-weapon hysteria on steroids! Grrrrrr. Don't fear the weapon, fear the man.

Agree, those who possessed weapons/firearm intending on creating harms on others are not going to respect any anti-weapon laws imposed on them. Edit: Just to be clear that I am not saying that all or most anti-weapon laws are ineffective.

Believe me, I'm with you Sean...I hear its because it is a family oriented environment, blah blah blah...my daughters love swords, I don't see the harm in that.
One of the faire-goers I ran into last year kinda put it into perspective for me- without the weapon, you're just playing dress-up.
Certainly gave me pause...didn't stop me, of course. I wield the weapon, it does not wield me...but he did have a point.
