Hi all Chris here " Scorpion Bows and Knives " I come up with an idea, for you guys who would like to kind of make your own sword. What do you think about me making a u-finish sword. cutting it out ,shaping it temp it and letting you finish to your own liking. Just a thought. let me know what you think. can do custom, and any of my own swords. up to you.

What kind of swords do you have in mind? Any swords, or swords of a certain type (European Medieval sword? Japanese sword?)
Lol I am kinda dense, so I am getting this correct: First, I pick a sword type (say a persian Scimitar). Next I pick a certain blade geometry, handle, sheath, fittings etc. And you produce the material and leave the sword assembly to my liking?

He's basically saying he will make the blade blank and we can finish it however we like. I think this is a great idea, you could also do tactical swords for people to finish with their own handles and things.

Well judging by his prices at the moment, I would have to go with extremely affordable. Chris: You really should make a shamshir mate, the amount of people I have heard complain about no one making affordable shamshirs is ridiculous. Also you could make some of the lesser known blades that have nobody making them either, like the shotel for example. Keep up the good work mate

Same here. My budget for swords is pretty low, but I've been wanting to try one of your blades for awhile now. I'd DEFINITELY be interested in this.

Ok guys. I've done a little more planning, but I'd like to get your feedback before moving forward with it too much. This is what I was thinking:
I will Provide: * A fully tempered sword blank, ground and beveled. * Pre-drilled holes in handle for either hidden or exposed pins. * Everything will be sanded smooth, but not polished. * Full instruction on installing wood onto the handle, sanding, and polishing blade.
You do the rest any way you want it! * You’ll polish and sharpen the sword. * You’ll buy and install your own wood &/or leather wrap on the handle to your taste.
I'll be available by phone, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 8 pm, and Saterdays from 8 am to 4 pm, for assistance.
Swords Available starting out: Lord of the Rings Strider Knife Sword of Hephestion Conan Warlord Sword Achilles Sword Spartan 300 Sword Alexander the Great Falcon Sword Smatchet Short Sword Legolas Long Knives Lakonian Sword Minus Metal Scales Falcata Sword of Apollo Khopesh Sword
Swords will be priced 50% off their regular price

That's a very nice plan. Personally I am willing to pay a little more for a sharpened and a polished blade (simple polish might do). Edit: For instance, you could offer say 50% off for unsharpened and unpolished blade. 45% off original price for a sharpened but unpolished blade and 35% off original price for sharpened and simple polished blade. Just a thought. Might also want to consider adding near eastern blades such as Persian Shamshir or Turkish Yataghan in the near future. To get a decent piece in the market today is quite difficult in my opinion. Edit again: On the other hand, the market for near eastern blade/sword might be quite small.

Cool! I'd buy a couple of those. Seems like a good way for a newbie sword customizer to learn the ropes. I think you would get a lot of business for a traditional european medieval blade like a type XIV.

50% off normal price?! Wow, colour me very interested! I can't think of several people on here (including myself) who lament the lack of some of the rarer blade types. Chris: you might also offer custom u-finish it swords, so if someone wants a blade type they send you a design and you make it for an agreed price or something. Or barring that just make lots of different blade options from different cultures

A question, could you also make a custom blade? Just a tempered sword blank to the customers requests? Me for example I'd like a viking blade.
