killed a few bottles to test out the edge and geometry hanwei provides from the factory.
I'm happy but you be the judge:

Wow, for all the rumors about how bad the Hanwei edges are, I would say that they made this sword sharp. I would say that it's probably "historically sharp" right now. What do you think?

Hmm, looks like a good little cutter, are you going to give this one the tom treatment? Does it even need it? I just wish hanwei would make an arming sword, any single hander longer than a 25 inch blade just doesn't do it for me. I guess the other option is to buy one of those blades and find someone to cut it down and mount it for me. Hmmm, my sword list just got longer as well.

I cut this one down by about an inch and a half before mounting it.

Nice cutting Tom! Thanks +1 to you Sir! It looks like it fits you really well. Nice job finishing it. It also looks like there is no problem with that edge. I am sure you can make it sharp to your specs, and I am sure you will feel a difference. I wonder if I will be able to tell that there is difference in the video? I look forward to the installments

Also, fantastic cutting, Tom. I wanna see the hilt, though.

nope no hilt looks yet I've had to back up and redo some of my mounting to keep the cross guard from shifting a little. would have been fine to leave it but I didn't want to.

I count any sword over 25 inches as being a single hander not an arming sword per-se. What is the balance and weight of this one with the changes you made?

I count any sword over 25 inches as being a single hander not an arming sword per-se. What is the balance and weight of this one with the changes you made? So you want a shortsword, which, while falling under the arming sword category, is not a defining characteristic of an arming sword.

I wish that someone would make a cutting video of the Viking. Several people on this forum own one, yet there are no videos.
