I wouldn't rule off the Hanwei Longsword so fast. Yes, there have been known issues with the edge, but Mike Harris (the legendary ShooterMike) owns one and he claims that it performs extremely well. I am thinking that it will perform better than the VA LS, although cutting might be different due to its blade geometry and edge.

Atrim practical VA Kriegschwert G2 Black Prince DSA The Guardian (ok that's fantasy ) I also own the G2 Black Prince. I wouldn't put it in the same category as the Kriegschwert or the Practical.

That's a good point about the Hanwei/Tinker Longsword Jonathan, we shouldn't discount them. especially if they are now getting the new edge. I haven't heard anything on this but it seems like they should, does anyone know?
the H/T Longsword is an entirely different animal then the VA longsword made for different use and from a different time period.
I've heard great things about it, other than the edge.

I would agree, except that it was spoken for last night. keep your eyes on it though as the deal may fall through. probably not but until payment is received there's always that chance.

It all depends on what kind of sword you want. The VA LS is a type XIIa, which is cut orientated, while the Hanwei/Tinker LS is some subtype of XVIII, which is a cut and thrust longsword. I believe that they both perform like they are supposed to.
