Bobby Joe is a ***king a-hole. He helped degrade the art. Not that there were much to speak of in the west, where the first lesson easily by-passed, sometimes ignored all together.

It was on the internet a few days ago. I was thinking of posting the viral video but definitely NSFW because it is morbidly disgusting and has nothing to do with swords. I can easily dig out the disgusting video but you might wanna think twice before watching it

Why the [censored] is this in general discussion forum? Why the [censored] is this on the forum at all? 100 percent agreed! This has no place here at all, no matter what the intentions behind the post were. Christ almighty, is there nothing better to discuss? I'll walk away now, shaking my head in confusion.

Why not discuss it here, are there not any martial artists, or better yet human beings here that are appalled by this event? Or should we ignore such a thing and go on with our life? This section is for general discussion. This is by all means a general discussion. A general discussion about a crime that was committed. If this is the type of forum that only, and absolutely only discuss' swords. Then so be it, but there are other things in the world that deserve our attention besides swords. Let's not completely limit ourselves. I mean this with no hostility or to connote rebuttable strafe.

Kaij, First off, I'm a firm believer in free speech. As such, I respect yours, and everyones, right to discuss any topic. You asked for thoughts on this video and I gave my thoughts. There is an ongoing discussion about how recently it seems that videos are only being posted so that the actions in the video can be bashed. I'm not saying that was your intentions, but in this case I'm sure it will be. With good reason. Thing is, why post in the first place? Obviously the actions will be admonished and condemned. Obviously this was a horrible and wrong thing to have happened. What good will come of posting this? What positive impact will it have here? Will I be a better person with more knowledge or a good laugh from seeing that? Listen man, I don't want to come down on you for this, and I hope you'll not think ill of me for my rebuttal. This is an open forum where any thing can be brought up. And I don't believe such a heinous crime should go ignored. Having said that, I've never been one to slow down to see a car crash in the hopes of seeing blood.

I posted because I was appalled at the dismay of this individual and the suffering he must have gone threw, within this event and his life preparatory to it as well. I guess, I wanted the discussion to relate more so towards crime, but furthermore about the martial arts aspect.

Hmm... Like most news casts, it gives you nothing to smile about. I don't see any reason why it can't be discussed here, I just don't particularly want to. I would rather discuss something a bit more upbeat. The only thing that really bothers me about it and thus drags me into this, is that this guy was apparently out there still teaching and therefore, likely passing on his substandard ethics to this young students.

Let's not completely limit ourselves. If you follow this ignorant line of thought, then why not discuss the genocide in Rwanda, or maybe the holocaust, or the rising statistics of heart disease and cancer in the world? Should things like that be ignored? No, but this isn't the place to talk about such things. Yeah there are martial artists here, and yes it is general discussion, but there are other forums dedicated to martial arts and this is general discussion forum for SWORDS on a sword forum. If you wanted to post this why not the cafe where off topic from the general theme of the forum IE SWORDS stuff goes?

Back when I was actively studying the martial arts, I've encountered instructors who gave me bad vibes in a way similar to what it looks like this guy does. Its a shame... and I hope if what the video depicts really happened, that those involved are caught and punished. Not much else to say really...

Hold it for the people in this world that try to make this world a better place. Spend some time with the folks who work in homeless shelters. Who never give up on those who've been overlooked or ignored by society in general. Keep your' faith for those who give their blood at the red cross, saving the lives of strangers they'll never meet. Or for those who work tirelessly in fire departments and police departments across the world, trying to make a difference. Or for the Army private who puts his life on the line for a dollar more than minimum wage. These are the people who I keep mine for.

Man this guy went dog. The guy clearly gave up too. People like him make me lose what little faith I have of this earth. Warning uncut version. Very disturbing. Requires age verification. Only posted for those who want to see. In the full length video the guy told the the attacker that he had won several times. At that time they were both standing. It wasn't 10 seconds later he was getting his head stomped. The sound the poor guy was making on the ground did not leave much in the way of hope with survival. I hope this isn't common in martial arts. But when I look at this and factor in the "what not to do" videos from other parts of this forum there must be alot of sheep in dojos. Do they not think before they act? Is it common to do what your sensei says first and ask questions later?

I understand for those who feel disturbed by this, as well those who feel this should be here. personally, i feel the way of the sword has been and will always be in line with the arts, hence a bit of tolerated relevance.
fact is, our stance against such act is important to note. we have to make it known that we reject - especially within the merit of ourselves, martial arts or not. speak up and be heard. what Avery wrote is worth promoting, and a great representation of this forum.
