Dang it Jon you seem to be missing the fact that: 1 I get to handle and review two really cool swords and 2 that the community gets two really good comprehensive reviews that will answer a lot of questions that seem to still linger around these Hanwei Tinker swords and their edges
but have it your way.
offer still stands for your reconsideration

I feel like I am being treated like a child. I don't want charity, but I suppose that I could ship them to you, let you examine them/cut with them/possibly sharpen them a little bit if you want. I really can't afford to pay for a lot of shipping or your sharpening service, though, so unless you don't mind paying to ship them to me, maybe I shoudn't do it. This is all assuming that I can convince my parents to allow to ship them to you, lol.

OK Jon, I understand your concern and I certainly don't mean to treat you like a child. here's the deal: ANYONE who wants to get a new Hanwei/Tinker line sword that I have not seen may order it from Wiwingti, ship it to me so I can review it and sharpen it up. I will pay shipping from me to you within the contenental USA. you must PM me first and receive confirmation. I will only make this offer for ONE sword of each type (EMSHS does not qualify but all other Tinker line Hanwei do) all swords must be to me by the 11th. at this time the offer is FIRST COME FIRST SERVED as judged by PM time stamp.
go!

I feel like I am being treated like a child. Well... This is all assuming that I can convince my parents to allow to ship them to you, lol. Yeah. I think Tom is making the offer not because you are a child... which, to us old folk, you are. Don't get mad about it... its a good thing... youth is good, and I want mine back, but alas... ...anyway. Its not because you are young Tom is making you the offer, its because you seem to have so much trouble coming to a choice on this, and because you have chosen to make your deliberations and second guessing public with all of us, we all feel frustrated for you, and want you to just make up your mind and get something in you hand, so you can start learning if you even really like swords at all, let along what KIND of swords you like. So... in Tom's mind... its win-win for everyone. You order your swords without fear, because one way or the other, when they reach you, they WILL be cutting sharp. We all get to see you finally make a choice. Tom gets to look over a couple more Tinker line swords and review them for the SBG community. So, everyone wins.

No, Boromir has a shield. Aragon has just Anduril which is a longsword. Nope, The Book says Aragorn and Boromir had swords similar in shape. Boromir had his shield but Aragorn had no arms or armor except Anduril.

My memory isn't all that great, but doesn't Aragorn use a shield sometime in the books? I thought that he did during the battle of the black gate, or maybe Helm's Deep. Like I said, I am probably wrong, but for some reason I think that he did wield Anduril with one hand at on point.

He might. He just didn't leave Rivendell with a shield, he might got it from riders of Rohan.

Shields make warriors far more sure than swords. M. Shields are for pansys who are afraid of getting hit. Real men use Great Swords. ;D

You know jonathan at this rate you are never going to buy anything, if you keep um'ing and ah'ing. You want to be treated like an adult but your "woe is me, I have too many choices" spiel is getting a little annoying. I am happy to assist anyone but when a person keeps changing their mind because they read about one defect or whatever it just wears thin. From this post onwards until you actually buy something I'm sorry I can't help you anymore than I have. If you do have a problem with whatever you buy, JOIN THE CLUB! These days customer service is so good it isn't hard to get things sorted out. Disappointment is as much a part of this process as anything else, you don't think I've had my fair share of swords that were less than stellar? Yet you persevere find another sword you like, whilst I don't have your parental restrictions I do have monetary restrictions and I understand your need for a perfect sword but unless you experience a few swords you wont know what you like.
Also there is a difference between being humble and self effacing and just being plain stupid about things, you should learn the difference. I know I sound snarky but everyone needs tough love from time to time.

Yeah Jonathan, I like you lots, its nice beacause your not impulsive, your willing to educate yourself before making a purchase and thats a rare thing in young people today. And I'll let you in on a secret, I got 1000 dollars saved up at the moment and I cant make my mind up to save myself. Dont know whether to get something expensive but thats a whole eggs in a basket thing, then again I feel I should be getting better quality blades now, do I like this, that this that I've been mulling around heaps of choices worst the level of money saved gives me a plethora of choice ........... so my wife has done me a mercy and said "Keep saving until November and see what you feel like then". So I will. Its my chastisment for battering around to much ........ and I'm keeping my mouth shut until then ....... I hope .......... Did my wife just do an "intervention" ??

The end of my annoying posts, indeed. That is what you want, correct? Yes, maybe I am just stupid and not humble. Perhaps I will decide to be less humble in the future, if it makes me more "self effacing". As long as I copy the act of the wise, older members everything will be okay. Nothing that you said was "snarky". Just so everyone knows, I will no longer be troubling you with questions about swords.

Jon, BW didn't say he didn't want you asking questions. It is your waffling back and forth for months on end that is wearing thin. And I have to say I agree. You have lost months bouncing back and forth and sideways that you could have spent enjoying your swords. Ask all the questions you want and people here will always be happy to answer. But make up your mind and order the swords already! Then you can ask more questions and answer a few of other people's questions (and write a review or two ).

Is someone buying these swords for Jonathan out of their own pocket money? If not, I think we should all shut the hell up and let him spend his money however he pleases- its his money after all, is it not?
I think part of the fun of buying and collecting swords is interacting with a community that shares the same or similar interests- since he doesn't own a sword he's interacting which I'm sure is fun and new and exciting for him.
Lets keep in mind he's only 16 and new to this, so maybe we can cut him some slack and if he's still waffling, so what?
I know of no one on here who wants to be told what to do, what to buy simply because some folks are tired of reading and responding to questions. How about you don't read them, keep it moving til you get to something you want to respond to.
Don't get me wrong, I know what you guys are saying/feeling, but I don't see a need to get overly assertive because he hasn't pulled the trigger yet. HIS prerogative, no one else's. Maybe his parents'.
So...can we all just get along, wish him well when he finally gets a sword and until then, just say hi and keep it moving if you don't wish to talk or answer any more questions.

Ebon, No one is telling him what to buy. Nobody is telling him that he has to buy at all. But he is asking us for advice and our advice to him is to pick something and buy it already. Why should we "shut the hell up" when he keeps asking? And as for not reading his posts, that is a lot harder than it seems. Nearly every post about a Euro sword eventually ends in a discussion on which sword Jon prefers today. So should I just skip reading every post? And I have been refraining from responding to these discussions for a while now. I only spoke up now because I felt Jon was misunderstanding Bloodwraith and I wished to enforce that he should be asking questions and seeking advice. But he eventually does have to make a decision and the sooner he does the better for him it will be.

I'm going to pipe in with my two cents on this. To me it's just money, if you have a job than the most that will happen if you buy one of these swords is that you will have a very high quality sword that will probably exceed your expectations of what a medieval sword feels and acts like. Perhaps there will be a few small things that you don't like but then nothing is ever perfect for everyone. Now to give an example I bought one of the first gen 304S's and when I first gripped that magnificent tool in my hand there was a wave of power and euphoria that surged over me, I knew that this was a true weapon and any little niggles went to the way side. I haven't really collected much since then but it was vastly superior to anything I had handled before. I think that is one of the points that this rambling and the much more cohesive thoughts that the other members have is that you can learn form our experience and you don't have to second guess every decision that you make, all of these swords are so good that they are on a whole different level than anything out thee even a few years ago. So to end this ramble [have to work at 6am ] buy any of these swords and you will be happy if you actually like swords, if not you are out a couple of bucks and you can sell it to someone and you can go and find something that true strikes a cord in your heart. PS: Sorry for the ramble long day

I'm sorry everyone. It is true that I have been hijacking almost every European sword thread since I have joined, but I will stop. Their points are all valid, Ebon, so there's no need to defend me. I should have kept discussing it in my original thread that has long since gone cold instead of posting in all the other threads. I apologize, Bloodwraith. What I said to you was very immature, and I hope that you will forgive me.
