it have be sent alone,, i didn't send it, I do not understand what you mean, did it send itself? Yep, that's how most of these spread. Some poor soul unknowingly opens it, it downloads itself, accesses your address book/friends list, and sends itself out...from you. Good stuff. Except not. Good thing I don't have FaceBook. ...or Windows.

Good thing I don't have FaceBook. ...or Windows. I'm have with you... I don't use Facebook, or Twitter, or any of that crap really. I Do have an old MySpace page that I use just to keep in touch with a few of my old douchebag friedns that I would never hear from if I didn't. Sadly, I do have Windows tho... maybe I'll do something about that when I eventualy get a new computer... this one is getting on in the years.

Okay, here's the drill. Everyone go out and buy a decent external hard drive and always back up your data, period. You wouldn't treat your swords the way most treat their computers, well most of you wouldn't. Every year I end up rebuilding at least two friends computers, but because they ask me for help, they all have external drives and they keep them isolated from the computer except when doing back ups. I have seen family photos and other personal data survive numerous infections. The best antivirus on windows is common sense 2009, DON'T OPEN ATTACHMENTS!
Now that being said, my main OS isn't windows so I'm a cocky SOB, but I do use Windows 7 RC on a dual boot. That's not as hard as it sound and for non Mac owners there are several LINUX flavors that are very easy to have set as part of a dual boot system, Ubuntu being one option. Get to know your nerd, everyone knows one, they often will work for beer and pizza. Facebook and Twitter are, well, getting their butts kicked constantly. Free horse, mouth thing.

AVG is a great antivirus software, still prefer it over many of the others, it isn't a resource hog.
And the best place to get Common Sense 2009 is at your local WTFDIDT store, the same place they sell, Oops I did it again, What do you mean your pregnant and awful slur, I'm not as think you drunk I am.

Haha! What do you think of mcAfee? Nothing popped up when I opened the link warning me, full scan detected nothing...usually I get red flags or yellow alerts if a link is questionable. Nothing seems immediately wrong with my PC, should I download AVG?

Best bet, start running an external drive, back up as priority one, get the files that you cherish on a separate drive. At this house we haven't been a big fan of McAfee or Norton, they seem to be resource pigs. AVG has been dependable. But here's the rub, if you decide to run a different antivirus, you have to get the other one uninstalled. I am willing to give my OPINION if anyone wishes to pm me. That's legal speak for this is free advice. Please don't sue me, I'm an idiot.

I use Avast home edition which is another freebie anti-virus and it seems to work pretty well. It updates itself constantly and so far hasn't failed me. I do run a Windows PC, have an old Myspace page, my livejournal site, and am now on facebook. Yet, I haven't been hit by a virus in a long time.
I agree with farandolae about the external hard drive, and have been planning to pick one up as soon as I can afford it. However, I do run a dual HD system so my documents all go to my secondary drive as virus tend to attack my primary (Operating System) drive. That's my ass saver until I can get the external.
