here is my video response to that thread, if i remember, oh no it is a ryan sword, or something like that lol.why, OH , why? it is the question. this video will show you that, when you buy from him, it is like flipping a quarter. i know that swords cannot chop iron, but, they show in video that their swords are undestructible, chopping some metallic wire and a 5 gallon can,and banging on another knife with it. so, when i bought that sword from him, i asked him can this sword do everything i saw on the video? and he answered me, yes all that you've seen on the video can be done with that sword. i have been lucky and won it for very cheap, but, it still is, suppose to chop anything lol video that made me buy these at my beginning in the sword buying www.ryansword.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=196&zenid=807409bb03f8db0e612694ae76a39ce8i wanted to unmount it,today, after i saw the review(oh no it is a ryan sword) because i still think that it is dangerous sometimes on ebay to be fooled. so, take care and unmount your sword before using them. the tsuka turn on the tang, and guess what, i had the most surprising thing that happened to me guys, the tang won't come off, so i said to myself, OH no, there is a second mekugi, so i started to search the mekugi, ... what the hell, where is that mekugi? don't find it where is that mekugi peg gone??? so trying to pull on the tsuka the ito started to move a bit and,, what a surprise look at what i've found. i don't think that i have to say more than what the video show mouhahahahaha and yes, when i started to make videos, i tried that sword. imagine what could have happen to my lovely wife or even myself.

here is a text that he wrote , saying that, i say negative things, because i am a competitor
it is a copy and paste Hello to all,
Thanks for everything for your support all these years.
We had gained a lot of good friends all around the world from customer to friend and some to buddy.
Thanks all who put comment here that speaks for my swords. I believe truth can be proved by times. In Chinese, we always says, "The Real Gold, will never fear of Mount of Fire"
I do my business very passion and I always do my best to satisfy my customers need. I always wanted to let my customer to buy their dream sword at the lowest price possible in the market. The sword we are selling with same or higher qualities, are only priced 1/3 to 2/3 on the market.
I believe we cannot satisfy everyone, but I can say that my customers are very satisfied. thanks to competitors for putting comment here. Competitors are healthy.
Anyway, wish Merry Christmas.....to all..
Sincerely, Ryan Cheng.

I've never seen a rat-tail tang nut assembly on a katana before... niiiiiiiiiiiiiice. I have, though it's more of a Junkatana!!! The cheap, flea market Junkatanas have the rat-tail hidden through the bottom of the handle where the cap/pommel is glued on!!! The handle shakes ominously; loose blade and handle surely presents threat to wielder!!! Fortunately, I sold the set and got back the same amount I paid. I have made a point to mention that it was ornamental only, and removed the sharp edges with sandpaper to blunt it just in case. Now, I am deciding on which REAL sword to acquire.

Jeeeez, I'm at a loss for words. As others have said, the silver lining to this is that Wing became a seller. But a retaining nut? Really? Thats total bull s# t! Especially since they show those vids to sell this junk.

yeah avery, that is the problem, because if they would say it is a SLO or not join these video it would be a lot more honest lol.
when i first bought it i beleived everything that was on the page and video, since i asked him(the seller, who ever it was) and a lot of people for sure, have bought that sword and maybe think, that it is undestructible.
it is the problem, and nothing else than that.
or put a notice on these swords page,
Decorative sword would be cool too lol
just to be sure people do not use these.

Wow I am ever so glad I found SBG before I bought my first sword!!!!! I clicked on the link in your original post for Ryan swords, and my Norton virus protection flashed red and told me that there was a high risk. Not sure for what 'cause I clicked off really really fast . The down side is I was unable to see what all the talk is about in the promotion of his products. Oh well I'm probably not missing anything. Rob

I looked at his website, his praise for his swords and services, watched the video wiwingti posted, and then laughed on the inside when I realised what it was. Katana, katana...

No, Rob, I don't think you are. That's not to say that all this guy sells is junk, but that particular one in the vid IS junk. I've seen that and worse on those flea(bag)market SLOs...first one I ever bought was an ugly red 'katana' with no sori (but I had no idea what that was at the time); the 'ito' started unravelling after a swing or two of dry handling (what would've been same panels on a $60 cutter turned out just to be very thin, red material laid out exactly like a panel, then cheap material wrapped around it. I still have that thing...I keep it as a reminder of how far I've come. lol

while ALL of ryankatana swords may not be junk, enough of them are that I cannot imagine myself ever buying anything from him or reccomending his stuff to anyone. surely anything he has that is decent can be had from more reputable dealers for a reasonable cost without the fear of being scammed.
Ebon I know just what you mean with that SLO, I still have a few SLO from when I was a kid some of those things are really crazy the way they are put together.
