that's pretty funky-cool. I'd like to see better pictures of the leather stitching around the kurikata and kojiri on the saya. what is the end cap on the hilt (I guess it's a hilt now not a tsuka)? I'd like to see better pictures of that too. mostly I want to see detailed pictures of the leather stitching on the saya.
good work and brave for posting it, I hope the serious katana-philes don't rip you up too bad. here's a karma for the good work

The end cap is 2mm steel riveted to the handle. Yeah, I'd call it hilt, too, not tsuka. The end cap makes for a nice 'pommel' striking point. There's a name for that, but I have no idea ;-) Sorry, what is the kurikata and the kojiri? I'm not a katana guy, you know. Pic's to follow soon (my camera is occupied by my sister at the moment)

I think it looks really cool...my only concern would be mekugi access.

Well I could take the leather down to get to the mekugi. But the handle is also epoxied to the nakago so to take the sword apart the handle must be broken down. This would be a problem for some but the sword is very sturdy and I don't see a need to change the grip so that doesn't bother me at all.

That is defiantly unique. I am a pretty big katanaphile and at first I was like "WTF did you do?" But the more I look at it, the more I like it. I would also like to see better pictures of how you did the stitching around the saya. Or would that be a scabbard now? Karma for a good job!
