This is nothing short of epic, my friend! If its authentic, you have a tremendous valuable on your hands. I would get positive authentication / documentation from the film studios first, then an official appraisal and coverage from your insurance company. Get ready for alot of phone calls, emails, and messages with offers. I'd advise declining all of these offers, and getting it to a professional auction company if you are interested in selling it. These are exceptionally desirable in the sword community, even for being a prop blade. You are a very lucky person indeed. I would estimate between $15,000 and $20,00 from the right collector, probably more at auction. Check this information out as well: www.albion-swords.com/Discerner/Discerner.html

Use Photobucket.com, upload the files to an account, then post the IMG tags link here in a post. There's a few tutorials around the forum, but I don't know where they're posted, only that they exist (from other people mentioning them).
I, too, would love to see this piece, and agree with above "EPIC!" comment.

What would really rock is if it ended up being the actual Discerner sword!
Then the price estimate would be in the millions...

Didn't look at the profile. Just seen the Man at Arms tag on the sidebar...my bad. Edited my earlier post for more internet-savvy political correctness... So, you commented on the OP being a woman, but not the SWORD man! She could have the Holy Grail of collectable swords in her possession and you didn't mention it! WTH?!?!?!

If this is, in fact, one of the 18...she definitely has a collectible on her hands, but she'll need to authenticate as others have said. Kudos to the OP.

It would be pretty awesome to have one of the origninal swords from the movie... I LOVE that film. However, I have to confess, I don't know anything about who made the swords for the movie, and what quality they may be.

Well by the ringing noise they made when struck, I'm inclined to think they were using aluminum; probably aircraft grade. Of course, that all could've been added in during the editing phase and they could've been using painted wood for all we know.
I had a chance to get some armor pieces from the movie First Knight but they were plastic and ugly to look at. LOL

All of the swords made for Excalibur were aluminum with blunted edges...
Despite this fact, they are still worth a shitload. I don't know of any of them being in private collections, which makes it even more valuable.

Thanks you guys - I phoned the head of Corporate Archives this morning at Warner Brothers and we are going to start the process of establishing the history of this sword. I really appreciate the help. The thought of selling it makes me sick to my stomach though - It's really a part of me - but it just lives in a safe place and I take it out to look at it every now and then - I was thinking that it could be fair to pass it on to someone who loved it as well. For once my yard sale obsession paid off - and yes, I am a woman I have written Paul to find out more about uploading photos - so I will post asap. I did sign up for the other posting outlet that was suggested - I just don't have time for two more days to figure out the process.

If it is authenticated, you should frame it and hang it up on a wall with the COA...hey, it could turn into a family heirloom or something...

One way to tell if it's an authentic sword from the movie... does it sometimes produce an erie green glow? ;D

I would estimate between $15,000 and $20,00 from the right collector, probably more at auction. I think you are getting ahead of yourself. I think a specialist in movie memorabilia would be the best person to consult. What is your estimate based on? In my opinion it is very optimistic, especially in this economy. Not that I know anything about the values of movie props!

Watch the Christie's live feed auctions sometime, specifically when they do movie collectible auctions - more often than not, items appraised for $5000 end up selling for $30,000+. I think my estimate is right on par. Collectors are an insane sort when it comes to their passion.
Am I an auction expert? Nope. But I am a collector, and I have a pretty good idea of what I would pay to have an authentic Excalibur from the movie in my collection. ;D
Bump for photos... ;D

My point is that I would reserve any celebration until after I had more definitive answers.
