The trailer still gives me chills and I first saw it in 1983 when I was 12 years old. What an epic film!

Just because some watery tart lobs a scimitar at your head is no basis for a representative government . . . with that said, how cool is that? I'd only sell it if I had to, and I'd try and pass it on to someone I loved, valued and trusted, with the advice that, "Treasure this always, but if you ever really need to, sell it." Authenticate it, definitely, get as much backstory on it as possible, which will make it even cooler . . . just to have.

Okay photos are up - sorry they aren't very professional....but, you get the gist. Do you guys think this is one of the prop swords from Excalibur? I watched the movie again and to me - it's identical.
Love to hear your thoughts.
What is an OP?

Looking at the pics of the sword... I dunno. The sword in the movie had one large single centrel fuller, not three smaller fullers as on your blade... also the the blade in the movie seemed widder, and didnt have the world 'Excalibur' on the pommel.

The sword on the dvd cover and in the rock in the movie has a straight gold piece - but the one in this black and white has a curve like mine does.

I'd say not, mirroring the comments that the EXCALIBVR engraving on the pommel and triple fullers are incorrect. Additionally the pommel ferrules (grooves) are inaccurate for the prop. Additionally, as I stated earlier in the thread, all of the Excalibur's used in the film were specially made by Wilkinson Sword and constructed of aluminum, not steel.
I believe you have an early replica of the movie sword, though I am not sure of the maker or quality.
Thanks for posting the photos and info though. Definately an interesting story to say the least.

I am surprised that I never noticed the fullers - but yes, you are correct - they are different. I was thinking - I am in the music business and the makers of our merchandise usually make us a few different versions of what we've asked for so we could choose what we like best...could I be looking at something like that? Hard to think that it's just a replica from 15-18 years ago....but, if it turns out to be - you are right - it was a great story. Thanks so much for taking a look.

First time I'm seeing these pictures...otherwise I think I would've noticed the triple fullers and known off the bat that this wasn't one from the movie. Thing is, all of the movie swords would've been relatively identical; even back then they knew people watched movies for the inconsistencies (and some folk are just naturally observant or become that way when watching) so they would've done what they could to keep continuity.
Still...you've had this for quite some time, why not keep it a while longer? I'd still get it appraised- you never know, it could be worth something.
