Both Go Rin No Sho, & The Art Of War are literary treasures in my opinion. You will probably enjoy them very much...
Understand, that there is no reason to stop posting, or to limit your posting here. I think there may be some confusion here, in that you are very new to our community and may feel a little overwhelmed by these recent events. However, i assure you that no one here is interested in pointless arguments nor are they interested in status here. No one persons opinions are thought to be less important than another persons, and myself (as well as others) want to hear all manner of opinions from all people who will bestow them on us.
I have always subscribed to the idea that our community here are comprised of people who would try and "raise one up", and try to heighten our combined sense of knowledge & awareness by helping each other to find the true Way. Whereas, some places are full of people who would have you to be "pushed down", either because you were new, or they were simply ignorant people. This is not to say that we can't all disagree from time to time, for what kind of place would this world be if we always got along? For one, we (humans) would probably never have needed swords in the first place, and thus, we would not be here talking on this forum right now.
All we ask is that respect is offered... whether the person will accept it or not is up to them. But at least it was offered. I have had savage arguments to the point where name-calling began, and it never resulted in anything constructive. But when we choose to disagree while still maintaining that level off respect, we can both benefit from the disagreement, even if our views couldn't be further from each other.
I too feel that folks on the internet tend to fabricate, or "stretch" the truth more often than not. But, i am very careful to know the person (or at least their habits) before making that accusation. Quite simply, coming along and saying "you could all be lying, so why should i believe anything you say", is to say "i don't care what any of you have to say and will not hear you". Kinda harsh thing to say to a bunch of folks who only hope to have an educated discussion, and certainly doesn't influence additional comments when people see that "they aren't going to be believed anyway so why post anything?".
In this case, no one ever said they had battlefield experience, or had engaged an enemy in their home, ect.. People simply offered their opinions on a subject based on whatever knowledge they had (be it: training, or literary references, or even experience). Sure they could be lying, anyone can be lying,... i may not be James Gall. I may be Sergio Valdez from Guatemala. Sometimes you just have to take a chance and accept someones word for it. Either way, its hard to lie about a personal opinion... if you lie about your personal opinion, your really only lying to yourself. So, i go on that type of "innocent until proven guilty" mentality. Meaning, "i'll take someones word for it, UNTIL they prove to be bullsempriniting me".
In the end we are all here for each other, so lets all give each other the benefit of any doubts we might have. And not succumb to such petty arguments in the future.
