I work with Bruce Baldwin, he held the World's Record of cutting 23 rolled tatami mats - Here's a video of Bruce's New World's Record on April 25, 2009

Very cool, but the cheering is freaking creepy in slow motion.

Very cool, but the cheering is freaking creepy in slow motion. Yeah, kinda reminds me of an air-raid siren or something similar. Anyway, that is very impressive. Be sure to congratulate him for us.

looks like a nagamaki to me. certainly doesn't look like a Daito as they call it, unless they litteraly mean "big sword" and not the large sword of a daisho set. I would have liked to see those rolls rolled into one gigantic roll; that would have been a sight.

The slo-mo cheering sounded like zombies coming to eat our brains.

Wow, he made that look easy.
I want that sword. I assume it's a custom piece?

He's been on the Angel Sword site before, so I assume it's one of their pieces.

The cheering almost sounds like the single voice that starts the song of wolves in the wild. As to the nagimaki, I would be more impressed if his cut left the rolls standing but then I am hard to impress

Ha ha blood, black books quotes *Going up to three skinheads to get purposely beaten on* "Which one of you ...... semprinies ...... wants to dance, you know you guys when your having your usual threesome thing you do of a weekend, and the moonlights bouncing off your heads and your arses doesnt it get a bit confusing?"

Those are Wara they are about half the resistance of Tatami Omote.... So that 23 would be closer to 11 or 12 actual tatami omote. Tony Alvarex has cut 8 tatami omote with a standard size Katana on a normal stand... www.westcoasttaikai.com/images/yokonarabi_bg.jpg Reason why the angel sword guys hold these records is because they want to say they hold one....

I just recently cut some wara... the things are so freaking tall that my first few cuts were not worth remembering Wara is better than beachmat to a good degree, but tatami level its not. I would say 2 wara to 1 tatami depending on how you roll them. I had a person pull as tight as they could on one end while I rolled as tight as I could. It was not easy because they are so long... Rolled that way I would say that 2 wara are dead on to 1 tatami... if you just roll them and dont keep things tight they are kinda floppy. Just for laughs we rolled so beachmats I bought at work. And I am sorry to report that it took 4 tight rolled beach mats before we found an equal to one mugen dachi mat. Those mats really SUCKED to get them rolled tight I had to use a dowel with a person holding the other end to get them to stay solid once they were spiked. We had to slam them on the stand to get them to spike.... I rather enjoy that... Somtimes in video you see people walk up and just drop mats on the spike with not much effort. All that aside wara are ALLOT of fun to cut.
