Awesome review... I've found myself looking over this sword myself before. One of my guilty pleasures... I love Fantasy inspired swords, but I also want them to perform well and feel good in my hands. I love that you waited till you got to work with a few other swords to do the review on this one... that you were thinking that far ahead and wanted to be able to make a more informed comparasion, very impressive to me. +1 well earned, sir.

Sounds like a lot of us have had our eye on this one, including me. I agree with you about liking the plausible fantasy style this sword has, and it certainly looks nice and detailed without being over the top.

I'm a fan of fantasy-inspired weapons, and I'm always interested in reading reviews on them. I'm glad you reviewed this one.
+1 to you.

It reminds me a bit of the sword from "300". Perhaps it's related?

I don't think it would be, M. (Eversberg) - but it does have the look. In scabbard, this is pretty much how I envisioned the Death Dealer sword to look...wheels are churning in my head...
Thanks for posting this; I have been eyeing this sword since I first saw it.

Very good review, Chris. I will admit that this one has caught my eye before. Nice to know it's a good one. Btw, I like you're mutiple stand set up. Nice cutting also. +1

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I feel that this sword is the type of sword this site was made for: The unexpected sub $300 gem. Thus it deserved a review. My biggest fear in recommending this, though, is Windlass's sometimes spotty QC. Hopefully anyone that might order one will get one in as good condition as mine. Sean, When I post something on a public forum, especially one with so many awesome people reading, I feel it is very important to give an informed, though not expert, opinion. So I do my best to learn and understand. I thank you for noticing and appreciating that. BW, Thanks for lying about my form M., It does have a similar shape to the 300 sword. If I remember correctly, that is another decent blade. Ric, These stands are the easiest to make and I think the best to use. They are versatile. They also give the chance to practice foot work (something I am sorely lacking in) by placing the stands a few feet apart. The biggest drawback is the amount of storage room needed

Its a good looking sword. I've been commissioned to make a sword with a blade shape inspired by this one. We changed a few things though to be more useful. I too thought of the similarity in general shape to the 300. It's a pretty thing.

Very cool sword! The fantasy blade is really unique (although it does remind me of the Spartan blade from 300) ;D. Neat design for the scabbard. The guard and grip look like your hand would fit nicely inside!

Great review, Chris I bought this sword, and I am happy with it, except for the sharpening service, mine had a 60 degree secondary bevel, about what you would expect to see on a rock chisel But thankfully I can remedy that problem Mine had the funny powder on it too, wonder what that was I would consider this blade pattern a Falchion. Cheers, Mike.

I'd say you earned those 30 points from Sept, I will add a +1 karma to you because you waited until you had the experience to form an informed opinion. that is truely admirable. well done.
