Here is a little page of designs I did for a Koshirae over the weekend, I haven't finalised my ideas for the colour / finish scheme yet but I laid the basic design elements out pretty quickly together, so hopefully it still looks like it is all part of one Koshirae, Haha, Any crits or suggestions will be welcomed, and any input on what colours you all think might fit would be great too, Enjoy!
The Whole page, complete with all my notes and a couple of bits that didn't warrant a close up:
The Tsuba, I really like that scored and then blackened finish I have seen on some Nihonto fittings, that's what I was going for in a single direction across the face of the Tsuba. The 3 little holes up the top right there were just for kicks,
The Semi - Ornamental Habaki, I love the cut out Habaki styles as well as the different file marks, I can see it as a double layered habaki, but I can't think of the metals that would be used:
I am a huge fan of the Handachi / Tachi / Shin-Gunto Kashiras with the same showing, although I thought i would try for something a little different with this one, I haven't seen the Tsuka ito passed through at the Kashira like this before (Maybe because it only works on paper though, haha!) but I think it could look pretty cool:
The Fuchi, Both sides, I have seen some asymmetrical fuchi many times before but only a few with any deviation from the band like geometry that is standard, I also like tall fuchi, so I threw that in too.
the Omote side:
The Ura side:
I am a Huge fan of big Sori on Katana, so I made it pretty deep on this one, the tsuka curves to match the geometry, I have never used a sword like this and frankly the deep curvature doesn't appeal to me from the perspective of use but I love how it looks:
an O-kissaki in there just for kicks, I think all assembled it could come together pretty well,
as you can see I am yet to do the Saya. It would also have asymmetrical O-seppa because I haven't seen that before either (apart from Shin Gunto, but i like the elliptical seppa better)
I imagine it in a Deep green with brown and bronze accents, I can't decide the main finish for the fittings but considering the blackened Tsuba probably black, all in all that's what I have so far, I hope to be posting more of these as time goes on, I have no Intention of ever getting it made but who knows I could become Independently wealthy, haha.
anyway I hope you like, and if anyone is interested in having something sketched up for them (If time is no object) I would be happy to throw something together with gratitude as my only price, PM me with any ideas, I will post some of my other art in the appropriate places later on, (I don't just draw swords)
