I think most of Bruce's stuff (www.wholesalearmor.com) comes from India, not that that is bad, but if you want something that might be a bit better and you will know is hand made, try www.stonekeeparmory.com - they offer different weights, trim lines- even steel composition (they also offer a spring steel which is lighter, tougher and therefore, more expensive) and just about anything you can think up for a starter piece of armor (or more advanced) they either have it on hand or can make. Very affordable prices too. Update: if you type in that address I listed above, here is where it navigates to: spiers-saddlery.stores.yahoo.net/scagearandar.htmlGood luck.

Thanks Ebon Paladin, I ended up getting a Gorget at the Mercenary's Tailors and it's very nice. Im spending quite a bit on a full 15th century suite of armour so I wanted it to look nice. Im actually designing a whole room in my house with a medieval style and the 15th century armour in the center piece, thank my wife for letting me create a whole room in a medieval theme! I will post some pictures of my armour in the room sometime soon.

At $69 the wholesale armor one is not cheap. Not super expensive either. My problem with it is that it seems to protect the most is the wrong places if you intend to use it in combat. The throat protection is weak. I would not trust it with rattan and definitely not a blade. A lot of protection the chest and back. Which would normally come from a breast plate, so depending on the rest of your armor, you may have some interference there. There is also a strong possibility that it may interfere with raising your arms over your head unless you have very wide shoulders the shoot far out from your neck. In a nutshell, I really don't like the design. The ones on Stonekeeps page that Ebon posted are much more practical. They will work together better with any functional armor. Here is a direct link to their gorget page. spiers-saddlery.stores.yahoo.net/gonar.htmlHere are some more fully functional ones at bokalo's. I like this guy because he also has aluminum options which are even lighter then stainless. bokalosarmoury.com/gorgets.htm

I agree with tsafa, it looks like it leaves your neck very exposed.
I suppose it depends on what you want it for. If want historically accurate/usable armour then I would steer clear. If you are after something for a costume that does not have to be historical or practical, then it may well meet your needs

Saxon, your wife rocks - I am working on a similar setup with my wife's blessing of course!
Bill, I figured if anyone could comment on field armor, you'd be the one- thanks for the info on that gorget.
Please keep in mind, Bruce's stuff is mostly for the costumed vs re-enactment crowd; for those who want more authentic looks and weight, but not necessarily to take to the field. My estimate on that, anyway.
Stonekeep and Merc's Tailor are two very good choices for field armor.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, very much appreciated. Lot's of very knowledgable armour afficianados on here:) Hey Ebon Paladin, make sure you post photos once you get your setup done! Im curious and might even get some good ideas! I looked at Bokalos armoury and I did think some of the leg pieces looked pretty good for the price. On the faq page it says it comes without straps though....Is that correct? Im not an SCA guy...at least not yet:), just using it more as a collector and for display but I do want authentic armour that looks good for the price. Im hoping to find some decent looking full plate legs both legs and grieves for around 300$. I did find some I liked at Armstreet.com Anyone have any opinions on Armstreet? I think these look decent. Only problem is they want 80$ shipping. I bought a breast and back plate and arms in one shipment from MercTailor and shipping was only 30$, so 80$ for legs seems excessive. armstreet.com/store/armor/1/52.html
