This Trident is basically 3 in 1. it uses two ditch blades opposited with the curved points out. the blades are bolted with bar stock braces to the six and a half foot quarter inch thick one and a half inch thick square steel tubing. the main shaft, ( six and a half feet of square tubing) is the middle of the trident and the main impaler. cut into a point, then add material by welding, making it a pyramid spike tip with the ditch blades on either side. at the base of the ditch blades the bar stock steel is cut to points for side spike damage at the base of the blade and acts a a gaurd and hilt. at the reverse end of the battle staff there is 5 two inch and 5/8 trailer hitch balls, locktight threaded then welded, one on each side of the square tubing, then cap the tubing with a pre-threaded plate. weld it on, locktight thread the last ball and then weld it. now youve got a rediculous trident with chopping, cleaving, impaling, bashing, smashing, crushing, slashing, stabbing attacks. haha. tell me what you think. image google Keiji Maeda for pics for now. i have one drawn to scale basically on a board with my claymore design, thats another post. im having trouble with my camera and getting pics onto computer, even then, im a noob to forum posting and not sure how to get pics onto here. tell me what you guys think, would you buy one from me if i made them? i have a lot of other ideas about making solid functional weapons out of modern easily available semprini. i designed this battle staff with zombies in mind particularly. hahaha, sorry i feel like im rambling this is my first post. ;D i dont know if that worked? it did! bear in mind that mine is very similar to this but also very different, same concept hack and bash. ;D plus i can make them smaller and lighter for the not so big people.

I heard a samurai named Maeda Keiji used similar kind of double headed spear to bash (alone, if I remember right) through enemy lines. Wicked!

yea im going to be figuring out how to get the picture of my diagram version up here soon, cant seem to find my camera cable thingy. its pretty impressive when you look at first person. it can be used like a large two handed battle axe, but can also deliver stabbing impaling spear like attacks, and the trident end would be great at parrying, blocking, ensnaring and disarming an attacker, and then bashing their head with the mace end pommel. for zombies i thought of sweeping their feet with the ditch blades (axe style) and then smashing their heads in with the mace pommel. im thinking overall weight for the one im making for myself to be under 15 lbs. like i said, i can make them much much lighter by using smaller ditch blades and trailer hitch balls, therefore any person can have one they can use that will still give them a range advantage over the zeds. plus when you "tromp" with it, ( its a technique i use when im in the mosh pit, it works great with double ended pole weapons like this. ) you basically have a 360 degrees attack radius so its great for open spaces, if you get confined you can still choke up on the grip for better control of the axe and spear head, and utilize the length to keep them back and do quick hand-slide attacks, holding one of the trailer hitch balls on the mace pommel end to maximize grip and use it like a short spear. im full of ideas for making brutally effective modern concepts of ancient weapons.

in Japanese myth the double bladed pike as its called in the game, is a spear that one of the gods used to create the Japanese islands, Izanagi was the gods name and is the name of Keiji's best (5th) weapon in the game.

I'm not sure you can really get away with calling it a trident, as that implies it has three tongs. His weapon, while you could call it a double pike, is actually based on the Sasumata, a man-catcher/fireman's tool, though, I agree that if you were to sharpen the prongs on the sasumata, it'd be a devastating pole arm.

doesn't "bident" sound too much like toothpaste? I'd stick with the tougher/meaner sounding name "double bladed pike"- which we all know is an ass kicking fish! (sorry- couldn't resist)

It looks a lot like a mancatcher, though a much more fanciful design.
