It's something I've been curious about lately. Gladii don't do a whole lot for me (sorry Rick ;D), but I do like the look of the longer Spatha. Though I havent seen any reproductions available, and Albion still hasnt released anything more than drawings, aside from being well over my price range.

Doh! Del Tin should have been the company I went to right after Albion. Fatal flaw in my thought process. I'm still not used to them being available so easily though KOA. Thanks a ton guys, that sure is an attractive piece, too.

Windlass sold (thrug MRL) a sword they dubbed the Spath; supposedly modeled after the Roman cavalry spatha but hilted in a less austere manner. Had some weird red gems on the handle; noticed that it went into the $99 bin but it didn't appeal to me enough to buy it.
I've gotten past the "oo, its only $xx, I'll buy it" phase, thankfully. Specs on it were 38" total length, 31" blade at 1 3/8" width? It was a relatively slim blade...if they still have it, it might serve as a platform with which to build a spatha.

Yeah Musicalpoo, that's a sweet sword but I wouldn't call it a spatha. I'd call it a historically inspired, fantasy sword ;D I mean, looks like it has the same blade as "sting" from LOTR

I know they probably meant "Roman Spatha" because Sparta was a Greek city-state...Sparta was never under Roman rule, though they were allied at one point. Ebon, I found the sword you mentioned, though it is discontinued and neither Reliks nor MRL have any in stock. I'd also trust the Del Tin to be a far better performing sword, albeit at a higher price. Thanks again guys.

Beautiful pieces Alvin, thanks. But alas, a 'way little' too rich for me, too. ;D

Fixed the link: www.odinblades.com/Pages/Spatha.htmlI was expecting something more expensive, that's actually within my price range and very, very good looking. Thanks for posting!

Wow, are we sure that one isn't missing a 0 somewhere? Although it is a monosteel blade and fairly simple (relatively speaking). His slice sword starts at $300 and his training blades start at a reasonable price as well so, it is not that unbelievable
