I am relatively ignorant of Civil War era swords, so I found this video interesting:

+ 1 2 U Jonathan ! Don't know if you recall my thread in April of last year about Wade Hampton's sword. You, Glen and other Members helped me in my quest to locate a photo of Hampton's sword. /index.cgi?board=military&action=display&thread=4455 I finally did contact the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum requesting a photo of Hampton's sword of which they are in possession. But, they wanted me to pay through the nose for a copy. So I gave up on that. But, you have found one, at least one of the swords that Hampton purchased for his unit. And it wouldn't be surprising that Hampton's swords - it is recorded that he had several of the same model - would have been the same model as those for his men. I wish that they would have given a better view of the sword on the vid. But, they did note the motto on the blade which is the same as the sword in the photo that I had found. And Hampton's sword was said to have the motto. Thanks Jonathan !! I'm just tickled shitless with this !

Unfortunately, I lost my pc sound last year at some point and have not figuered out the problem. Some scewy codex or Quicktime issue. That and I am also on dial-up, so a few minutes of video takes some time.
Cheers

I am glad y'all enjoyed the video. Jim, I forgot about that thread, so it did not cross my mind that the curator was presenting the very same sword (or the same type) as the one you were inquiring about last year. It is an impressive sword and is interesting in that it is double edged. Glen, Sorry your sound is not working. Basically, the curator just talked about how great I am while holding the sword.
