I'm going to try to cast a Tsuba out of silver. Not sure how to do it but used to cast aluminium with sand casting as a kid so I'm going to try to make some fine casting sand and meld down some silver Chinese trade coins. If any one has some tested ideas on casting mold making, like should I use some other common material. Bare in mind that I live in a very rural area so just running out to get something is not as easy as one might think.

Sounds like quite an undertaking! I've got a sword coming soon and I want to swap the tsuba out with a silver one, but they're impossible to find! I tried to find a silver version of the Musashi rings tsuba, no luck. I have been looking into nickel plating though!
Good look with your endeavor!
