I think we should deck out the moderators in golden chains and huge rings! Er... No, wait, what I meant to say was; I thought that it might be neat to own a bo staff at some point, just to learn to twirl it around and basically make an ass out of myself á la Star Wars Kid. But I'd like something with a bit of character, not just a wooden stick. No, not bright colors and flashing LED lights (then again... ), just something that catches the eye if I keep it next to my swords. Carvings, some additional color (in moderation) perhaps? Any suggestions where I could buy something like this..?

Nope, but you can easily bling it up yourself.
I painted one of my bos black with spraypaint, then made rings round the ends using masking tape and red/silver spraypaint. You can print out motifes on regular printer paper, stick the paper to one of the sides of the doublesided tape, cut out and tape to the staff, and spray paint the motif. I put a hand painted dragon in the middle of the staff.

Yeah, I suppose I'd have to do something like that. Just wanted to check if there were any options for a lazier guy. ;D
Thanks.

Model and craft shops often sell all sorts of decals, and you can probably buy them on line too. Apply those, with a few coats of clear laquer over the top and you could get a pretty good effect. I'd stay away from carvings, at least anything too ornate, as it would probably affect the handling. Post pics if you go with it!

I made a bunch of quarter-staffs out of Australian Blackwood many years ago, and capped the ends with some 40mm brass tubing I salvaged from a factory scrap bin. They looked good, but a bit too subtle to fit my definition of "bling". Mind you, the timber was a sort of golden brown, so the brass didn't contrast much. If you painted or stained the wood black, and polished the brass, it probably would count as bling.
