Does anyone has owned an Mtech Knife? I'm curious because they ripoff popular brand styles to an amazing (and gross) detail, but unsure of the quality of their steel and edge retention. Thanks in advance..........

I have a couple MTechs. They're quite good for what I paid for them. That is, practically nothing.
Knife designs tend to run generic nowadays, anyway.

I've had one that the lock failed on, but why buy a $15 Mtech when you can get a decent Cold Steel for $25? -Slayer

Yeah, the lock on my Mtech was utter junk. It failed within a week of purchase, but it WAS only $12... Are you looking for a fixed blade, or a folder? Cold steel has great choices for either of these under $30. -Slayer

Okay, so I have to ask... How, exactly, did the lock fail?
I only have two fixed blades from MTech, and they're both good knives, for being your typical 440 stainless stuffs from China and all. Edge retention thus far as been excellent, and they are quite sharp. I've banged 'em around a bit and they still feel just as sturdy as ever.
I don't like any of their folders so I never bought any of them...
I'd also never buy a Cold Steel just on principle, I don't like the company.
My favorite folders are from Winchester. Gerber is also highly rated with me. The rest of my knives are of unknown origin but they do the trick just fine.
I imagine, like any company, MTech has both good and bad products, even between identical models.

Take it apart, line everything up properly, and put it back together? Good luck finding the bits to do so, though... I have a hard time tightening up my folders.

ive got one that has held up fairly well. i replaced with a bigger fixed blade winchester knife with a 4 inch blade and a gut hook, it goes with me everywhere on my hip. got it at academy for 18 bucks. its a great knife. my only complaint about the Mtech is the weird star-screws i cant find a tool to tighten them. no more Mtechs for me i guess. i tend to just lean towards a good solid fixed blade anyways. like a good ole Dirk. too bad i cant carry that on my boot....
