I'll stick to Vergil's sword...........it's the easier of all to build/acquire.................buy an O-Katana and good luck finding the fittings and furniture for it................... There's a SLO replica at trueswords, maybe we can strip it from its fittings and build around them or use them as models for casting?

You wouldn't want to use the fittings of of the SLO, but using them as a cast model is a very good idea.

Why people develop affinities for other cultures are their own reasons for doing so... whether they think it is "automatically better " or not... I know many Japan-o- philes ... and NONE of them think it is "automatically" better, they simply enjoy the the texture of medieval Japanese culture... Why someone would choose to take their anime enima in Japanese with subtitles is obvious... it's the language the art was created in... its the same reason people watch French or Italian films in sub-titles.... no big mystery , and nothing to be all angsty about.... Personally I HATE anime , i don't care WHAT language it is in... What i think i being all "bothered" by other people's interests , and their reasons for them is ridiculous , and a recipe for a life full of bitterness and misery.... you can't control people ,places or things.... I say , if there is a market for used panties, it's GREAT they have a vending machine for them .... viva la differenceBRAVO, Marc ! +1

I say , if there is a market for used panties, it's GREAT they have a vending machine for them .... viva la differenceI think you misunderstand. I'm not bothered by people's interests, I'm bothered by people's obsessions. Liking Japanese culture is an interest. Convincing themselves that they are Japanese, that's an obsession. Possibly even some kind of dissociative disorder. And as for the panties, I'm all for it too. Though I'm much more fond of beer vending machines, which I believe Germany has. My main point there is that some believe the Japanese to be the height of grace and perfection. The starry-eyed view I mentioned before. Alas, EVERY culture has their own version of a red-light district. When it comes right down to it people are people, no matter where in the world they happen to have been raised. And deep down, as people, we are all screw-ups, perverts, and hell-raisers. And to that, I shall raise my beer. Since I'm snowed in and can't get the hell out of my house, today, drinking shall keep my spirits high.

I personally like anime. Well, some. I hate the anime fan base though. They make me feel ashamed to say I enjoy anime, in fear of being associated with them. All I know is anime is horrible for your logic gland...

Re: Devil May Cry-- If you're looking for a functional version of that blade, I'm willing to bet that a smith somewhere on this forum might be willing to give it a shot. I say contact one of them and get a price quote first, before buying the wall hanger. But then, if you're looking for the wall hanger (ie. costuming or collecting), skip that idea. Tombstone Marshal Fred White: Come on boys. We don't want any trouble in here. Not in any language. "Evidently Mr. Ringo’s an educated man. Now I *really* hate him." +1 for referencing an *awesome* movie . --Edward

Japanese? Screw that. I don't KNOW Japanese. And when I'm WATCHING television, I don't feel like READING frickin' subtitles. If I wanted to read, I'd pick up a book. Besides, they distract from the animation and you miss details. I enjoy the series for what it is. I'm not an anime snob who thumbs their nose at anything that's not Japanese. Those people aren't perfect. For pete's sake, they have vending machines for used panties... This series was dubbed damn well, btw. I've heard the Japanese voice-actor for Dante sounds like an emo semprini. First off you don't need to be an "anime snob" to enjoy anime in Japanese, and if you can't read while watching anime maybe you need glasses? The difference is that the Japanese voice actors get many $$ and the American get little $$ which can be seen in the difference in quality. Also the Japanese voice actors are chosen to fit their part but the with the American vocals it seems that they just pick whatever they can get. No the Japanese are far from perfect, as any other people but the anime is made in Japanese, it's made by Japanese people and the character Dante is made up by a Japanese, so yeh watching it with english dubs is the right way to go. So my point is Japanese is exactly what "it is". But if you like lissening to mediocre voice actors then go ahead, I'm just saying that if you can read and watch at the same time then watching it in Japanese gives a better experience. But to each his own I don't think he said that he could NOT read and watch, I believe he said he didn't WANT to- and he shouldn't have to, no matter what you say. For the record, I'm not a lover of anime or anything Japanese; I own a couple of low-end katanas because I liked the way they look but they're basically wall hangers for the most part- nice to look at but not my cup of tea, you know? Does that make me less of a person because I'm not enamoured of things Japanese? Or choose to go with what I like as opposed to what someone else says I should do? Come on, we're all adults here; can we keep it civil?

Every culture has it's ups and downs. I for one love sushi, but can't stand the feel of a katana. I like watching anime, and I don't care if it's subbed or dubbed, I just take what I can. I have taken Japanese for 4 years, and many people in the class were the super obsessed, while I just like the sound of the language and could get easy credits for it.
The thing about people getting crazy over the whole Japanese craze would be just like a person from Japan being obsessed with English culture, it would get quite annoying after a while.

I wasn't a huge fan of Devil may Cry to be honest, just wasn't my type of game. I kinda liked the style but didn't enjoy the gameplay itself. Anyway, I just wanted to add something to the vending machine discussion: link
