Hello SBG Members,
If you would allow me a second of your time, i would like to discuss the recent addition to the Classifieds Rules for the Classifieds Section.
Sword Buyers Guide Forum now restricts the linking of 3rd party sites for the purpose of selling personal property.
And now has an official restriction on "auction style" selling or listing of items.
Auctions:
The auctioning of items has always been a sort of 'unspoken rule' in the classifieds section. Listing items in this way are discouraged to prevent uncomfortable 'bidding wars' between members for a particular item/s. This includes such statements as "Make me an offer" when no price has been listed for the merchandise. This has now been made official policy, to avoid any disputes in the future for attempted auction style listings.
Linking:
The linking of items listed on other sites (most popularly ebay) has been allowed in the past. However, this has caused several problems over time. Some people sign-up with SBG to gain access to the classifieds section, solely to list their items through 3rd party sites. While not a major problem, this violates the Advertising Policy Misuses rule in the General rules section (Rule #6). In addition to this, these threads are always left derelict once the auctions have expired. The listing party never returns to close off the thread, and this in turn causes excess clutter in the section.
We appreciate your cooperation to keep the classifieds section, and the SBG forum as a whole running as smoothly as possible. As always any questions regarding this subject, or suggestions for the section are welcome. Please do not hesitate to contact me with your concerns or advice...
Respectfully,

- This restriction includes the linking of auction sites such as ebay, and 3rd party classifieds sites like Craigslist. Such linking is now strictly prohibited.
- The restriction also applies to linking items from other forums, and their respective classifieds or sales sections.
- Auction style listing of items, (ie. to advocate bidding) is also prohibited. Items being sold should have a set price,
OBO - (Or Best Offer), is still acceptable so long as it is accompanied by the set sale price for the item/s.
