any recomendations for the best way to safely mount a european sword on a wall? nothing too fancy, i want to look at the sword not the hangers! ;D maybe this is a silly question, since i know there are numerous cheap mounts available all over the internet, and it doesn't seem very complicated... i just figure its safest to ask before ordering one... just in case

Hi David, There's nothing silly in your Qn., and it pays to be cautious.. Here's how I did it - I use mainly 2 kinds of sword mounts, depending on the weight of the swords to be hung: for heavier ones, I use the Denix type; whereas those lighter ones, I prefers to use the ArtGladius type. You can easily find those in www.bytheswordinc.com ("sword accessories") For Denix hangers, there are 2 sub-types and depending on the scabbard/sword tip: Here's a close-up of the ArtGladius Type:

so i was checking out the denix hangers at reliks.com: www.reliks.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=781 and it says that they fit swords up to 1 1/2 inch wide and the witham river viking that i'm planning on hanging has a blade thats 2 1/2 inches wide at the base... i take it that these hangers wont work for this sword then? will other hangers have the same problem? anyone know of any that will hold the gen2 witham river (i want to hang it vertically)

Perhaps you can use one of the hangers on each side of the cross guard instead of just one around the blade.
