I'm looking to buy some leather armour (once I have some money), or making some armour that looks similar to either of the pieces that the two characters are wearing below. (Sorry if it is hard to make out the armour) I would prefer to get patterns and make the armour myself if possible.

I used to work with leather (still a bit) I even made a decent curiass with tassets and some bracers for myself.I started out cutting it out of heavy construction paper so I could fit it and then have a pattern to use.The tough thing is in order to make it you will have to spend a decent amount of money on leather tools, punches, rivets anvil ,sissors, dyes, and dont forget the leather itself.A good thick piece of leather ( nothing thinner than 8 oz) isnt cheap.I'm not trying to discourage you but theres a lot involved in initial costs to start up working with leather.however once you own some tools and if you have some talent you can make some cool pieces that others charge a bunch for,and you have the satisfaction of wearing something you made.Other wise there are a few places that do custom work just surf around.

I have worked with leather before, and have a leather depot near my house that has very good prices. I've made leather bracers before and a belt, but that's about it.
It's just hard for me to convert a picture such as this into patterns.

Here is an old thread of mine with the leather armor I was fighting in for about a year.
/index.cgi?board=armour&action=display&thread=3632
I have since moved on to different armor but this was very functional.
