They don't use two different steels what you are see everyone likes to call a hamon. Cold Steel tomahawks are differetially heat treated. You did real nice work on your Trail Hawk.

It want they say in Cold Steel catalog. Why else would your treatment cause this. They didn't weld two different steels togather if they did you treatment would show the weld line. Most company that make good tomahawks heat, and axes are differetially heat treated.

The patina is looking real good, ken. I think what coldsteel is referring to a D. heat treated is the edge. They will harden the meatal more at the bevel than behind it. Thats my theory anyway.

In the catalog it's not under the description of the trail hawk. But under the general description of all their tomahawks
