Does anyone else have this? An amazing carbon steel blade, very lightweight. Beautifully made. I got mine from BudK back in December for less than $400...cheap compared to the original retail price of 700+ The BudK site still has them (and YES it came with the display case too, I just didnt take a pic of it) The display case and everything was brand new, never even cracked open.

No... I didn't even know there was an 'offical' Sting Replica that was not a Stainless Steel SLO. I ALMOST bought DarkSword Armoury's version not long ago... but they sold out QUICK. I woulda picked up the Gen 2 Halfling sword... if I ever found one. I love the look of that sword... ...but I don't think I'd pay 400 for it.

I believe that I have one buckinghamfan. mjc posted a review of this sword in December 2007 /index.cgi?board=swordreviews&action=display&thread=2093 And, being a big - and not just around the waistline big - fan that I am of LOTR, I began looking for one of the carbon steel blade versions myself. I eventually purchased one on eBay, Serial No. 21xx, along with the scabbard. I paid $162.50 US for the sword and $39.99 US for the scabbard. I haven't examined it myself, as I had it sent to my Son in the U.S. as a Christmas gift for one of my grandsons, Alvin the 4th who is also a LOTR fan. He's is too young now to keep it in his possession, but he knows that it's his and can look at it when his Father allows. My Son says that he is impressed with the quality of both the sword and the scabbard and that the sword came quite sharp. Even though it probably won't be used for anything rough like cutting - I hope - I wouldn't have bought one of the stainless steel versions.

I had seen one in a local shop for $900 as well as the museum Glamdring for $1400. They are indeed beautiful but after buying a couple of stainless LOTR Wall hanger from UC I was suspicious of their quality. Are they in fact as well assembled?

Hey Jak,
I haven't examined the Sting that I bought, but it isn't one of the stainless steel Stings that UC also sold. It - supposedly - was manufactured in Spain apart from the stainless ones and has a carbon steel blade. My Son, who is very knowledgeable in things metal, said that the blade is carbon steel, not stainless, and that the sword appears to be made of good quality materials, well finished and tight. But, as mjc stated in his review, the hilt isn't of a carbon steel material.

Hey Jim, well that's good to hear. I knew these Museum Line ones were a full tang, carbon steel version, and they looked pretty nice too. I just had reservations about UC after my rookie mistake of cutting with my Narsil all those years ago...and seeing the hollow grip and potmetal rat tail tang...uuhhh and just recently my girlfriend knocked over my Boromir and the finial on the end of the quillion broke off. I just didn't put that much faith into "Highest grade materials and craftsmanship" from UC. I would never spend what they were origionally asking but sounds like you and Buckinghamfan got great deals on this one and Im glad to hear they put some effort into this line. Nice find! It is a very nice looking sword.

My wife seems to like swords... she likes fantsy stories and movies... she used to study Wushu... she is an all around 'cool chick'. However sometimes when I offer to let her handle one of my beauties... she gets intimidated. Thus far she has only felt comfortable with my really short swords... probably because she is all of 5'2.

I refrained from an awesome burn, Sean. I just want you to know how epic it was. I wish they'd have come out with a Museum Collection Anduril. I never could get a hold of one of the Glamdrings.

One of the guys at UC actually told me that there was a prototype of Anduril made, that was going to be a Museum Coll version.

It's probably because she's used to much smaller packages. ;D Also, I wonder why the prototype never hit production? Couldn't have been cost, since they charge so much for Glamdring...

I could have gotten one of these for under 200 on ebay and I stupidly passed it up. Wish I would have stepped up and gotten one. I love the DSA version, but I would like to have an offical movie replica too

I did some research on it, appearently both Sting and Glamring had full carbon steel tempered versions. You can still get the Sting if you look carefully for $370. I found it through a web search. The Glamring is over $1000 though.
